For generation after generation, the clock tower at the old Nyack High School has always represented a symbol of tradition, pride, and unity in our very unique community. No matter where any Nyack graduate has ended up in their lives, they always know that when they saw a picture of that Clock Tower, they knew they were looking at home. Although there may have been more square footage and class ro
oms, there was always just something off about the new building. Most alumni of the old building never quite fell in love with the new one with the absence of the Clock Tower. One saving grace for most Nyack alumni was always that at least all of the major sporting events, graduations, and reunions were all still held at the old field in front on the old beautiful clock tower. You could always come back for a homecoming game and feel just like you did on a Friday night when you were 17. With the passage of the new bond last year, the final change that we all dreaded was finally coming true. From the year 2016, and going forward, all major sporting events for Nyack High School would now take place at Christian Herald road. No more Friday night football games under the tower. No more home coming reunions in front of the beautiful building that all Nyack alumni have loved, and always kept us thinking of home. The Nyack Tower Fund was born out a simple idea. If we couldn't keep the games played down at The old High school, maybe we can bring the best parts of the old high school, the tradition, and the tower with us to the new fields. The Nyack Tower Fund is a group of Nyack Alumni who are dedicated to fulfilling a dream to build a perfect reduced size replica of the old Nyack clock tower school building, and bring it to the new field to light our communities sporting events. Not only to honor the tradition of past generations, but to instill that same pride of community and togetherness for countless generations to come. Our vision for our new memorial Tower is exactly as it is shown in the pictures on our Web site. http://www.thetowerfund.org/ Please click on our pictures and video to share our vision. These renditions would be what the sports complex at the New Nyack High School will look like if we can raise our very aggressive fund raising goal. One of the best parts of our Nyack community has always the amazing people! Selfless and full of character. They represent the best of us. Two people who represented the best of Nyack were lost in the tragic attacks on 9/11. Those two individuals were Stacey Sennas McGowan, and Welles Crowther. Due to the incredible individual sacrifices they made that fateful day, and to honor them both, our new Tower will be called the Sennas/Crowther Memorial Tower. We ask for your generous help to honor these fallen alumni In the best tradition of Nyack. The Nyack Tower Fund is a privately-funded component fund under the 501-c-3 umbrella of the Rockland Community Foundation.
