Recently, on a podcast, I was asked to share how I got into flower essences. It got me thinking to how I started taking them at 28 years old. Anyone into astrology can appreciate that time of the Saturn return, where big shifts happen.

I remember taking them and feeling an immediate shift. Thank you to my teacher and mentor for introducing me to them.

All these years later I use them with myself, clients and my children 👶👧

The other night my daughter was giving them to her brother 🥺 so grateful for these essences and excited to share them more 🌻

It’s a lot to ask of kids to handle all the emotions of welcoming a new sibling. Everyone might be well meaningly asking them how excited they are. While it’s definitely exciting to have a new buddy in the house, it’s also a lot of change and sharing of parental resources.

Understandable jealousy, intense emotions and changes in behavior are to be expected.

Here are the flower essences for children welcoming a new sibling 💕

Holly - for anger and jealousy (totally understandable when so much is changing, including possibly the amount of time spent with their parents)

Walnut - for easing the turbulence with all the change

Chicory - for assurance that their parents still love them and is there for them when a child begins to doubt

Star of Bethlehem - for the shock that comes from welcoming a new baby into the home and all the shifts in roles and routines

Honeysuckle - for a longing for the past and for the “way things were”

Giving flower essences won’t take away from your child’s experience. They’ll still have their feelings. They’ll just have added support along the way.

Sending love to all the families welcoming a new baby and all of the siblings stepping into a new role 🌻

I love flower essences for children. For whatever reason, maybe their innocence, their high vibration, they haven’t had as many years reinforcing patterns, I find they respond so well.

Here are some of my favorites I’ve used for children:

Holly - for anger or jealousy, think welcoming a sibling, difficulties sharing

Gentian - for setbacks; having difficulties learning something new like swimming, riding a bike, dance etc. for when things feel hard

Impatiens - for support with waiting in lines, waiting for breakfast, waiting for anything

Mimulus - for fears you can name; fear of the dark, fear of dogs, fear of a big test at school

Walnut - for support with change and transition; ending the school year, moving, and growth spurts

Larch - for support with confidence; we can ask our kids to do so much and try so many new things. Larch can help children to trust themselves

Sometimes children just need a little support when comes to trying new things and navigating all of the beautiful layers of life 🌿

Every time I hear or read about Dr Edward Bach’s life and journey I’m amazed.

He was a traditionally trained physician who received his medical degree from University College Hospital in London and his diploma in public health from Cambridge.

He was highly sought after for his early work treating patients and was a trail blazer with understanding the gut brain connection.

To give up his practice and retreat to the country side to discover a natural, energetic approach to different ailments one would imagine took a great deal of effort and courage, but I believe Dr Bach was simply following his inner guidance. Perhaps courage and inner guidance, as well as trust ✨

He created the 38 remedies with the intention of helping all people come back to balance.

I’m so grateful for his work and that it continues on almost 100 years later.

His life is also a reminder for me to trust the process and to follow my intuition as well 🍃

Okay, I wish I didn’t compare myself to other moms sometimes, but it just happens. It’s so easy to do with the images on Instagram and even talking to your friends.

I love seeing what other moms are up to and using images and videos as inspiration. But, where it can get messy is when you feel like you’re not measuring up.

Over Easter, one of my best friends told me she already had her kids’ Easter baskets done a week in advance and I was hit with “Ugh, I’m not on top of things.” Cut to me trying to design the perfect Pinterest-worthy Easter basket in my head.

Then, I paused and remembered two things:

1) How important is it? I’ll get to the Easter baskets eventually and/or maybe this year isn’t the year for them and that’s okay, too!

2) Your children chose you for a reason. You’re the perfect mother for them because you’re both here to learn from each other. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be real.

It’s not about being “better” or “worse” than other moms. It’s about being yourself and trusting your own path 🤍

My kids got their Easter baskets - put together the night before. I don’t think they were Pinterest - worthy, but they were made with love 🤍
