When the air outside isn't safe, it's natural to worry about your baby.

The good news is that if you're breastfeeding, you can continue to breastfeed as you normally would. Your milk remains the best source of nutrition for your baby, and breastfeeding also provides comfort, connection, and reassurance during stressful times.

If smoke or poor air quality is affecting your area:
❤️Stay indoors when possible and keep windows closed.
❤️Use an air purifier or air conditioning if you have one.
❤️Drink plenty of fluids and take care of yourself too.
❤️Limit time outdoors, especially with young babies.

If you or your baby develop trouble breathing, persistent coughing, wheezing, or other concerning symptoms, contact your health care provider.

If your baby spends hours 🕑 in a "container" like a car seat, bouncer, or swing, his movement↔️ is limited.

Taking him out of the "box" 📤can help reduce breastfeeding 🤱🏻difficulties and possibly avoid spending 💰 on weeks of bodywork💆🏻‍♀️.

Games to play:

🚼Tummy Time!

Try offering something interesting to look at👀, like a toy or propped open board book📚 with colorful illustrations, if baby is on the floor.

If your baby isn't comfortable on the floor, try placing baby tummy down across your lap🪑. Many babies find that an interesting position and will lift their head to look around, relaxing tension in their neck! **Keep a hand ✋🏻 on him to make sure he doesn't fall.**

Or try holding baby upright with his tummy against your chest.🫂 Babywearing is a great way to help babies strengthen 💪🏻their muscles--and your own abs!

If your baby seems stiff, playing with your baby 👶🏻can help reduce breastfeeding 🤱🏻difficulties and possibly avoid spending 💰 on weeks of bodywork💆🏻‍♀️.

Games to play:

↔️Roll baby from side to side, supporting her head as you move her.

🔃Hold baby's hands and roll them across her chest, right in front of left, then left arm in front of right. Sing a song like "Wind little bobbin" or "Roll it!" for even more.

IMPORTANT: don't push her arms past where she's comfortable! As you repeat the movement, you'll feel the tension in her shoulders relax and she will stretch farther.

Playing with your baby 👶🏻can help reduce breastfeeding 🤱🏻difficulties and possibly avoid spending 💰 on weeks of bodywork💆🏻‍♀️.

If your baby has a chompy ↕️ latch because of tightness in her neck or shoulders, playing with her can loosen her up.

Try these games🕹️:
1. Place baby on her back on your lap or the couch🛋️, bed🛏️, or changing table. Hold her darling hands ✊🏻and lift her arms up🙆🏻‍♀️ and/or stretch them out (making a T with her body).
IMPORTANT: don't push her arms past where she's comfortable! As you repeat the movement, you'll feel the tension in her shoulders relax and she will stretch farther.

2. Place baby on her back on the same firm, flat surface. Hold her little hands and cross ❌ her arms over each other, toward her feet. You can also cross ❌ her opposite hand ✋🏻 and foot 🦶🏻 to meet near her belly.
