At 66, I no longer audition for acceptance, approval, or applause. I have survived storms that would have drowned people who now sit comfortably judging me from the shore.
I’ve buried people I loved. Rebuilt after losses. Reinvented myself more times than most people have changed bedsheets. I have walked through betrayal, heartbreak, sacrifice, struggle, reinvention, survival, and still found the courage to rise with my lipstick on, my crown straight, and my spirit intact.
At this stage of my life, people’s opinions about me are none of my damn business. Their assumptions cannot erase my experiences, my wisdom, or the scars I earned surviving things they could never endure.
I am no longer shrinking to make insecure people comfortable. I am no longer explaining my magic to people committed to misunderstanding me.
I’ve earned my peace. I’ve earned my voice. And baby… I’ve definitely earned this unapologetic freedom.
