Recently, I was cast in a documentary with Human First Productions where I played a Sergeant inside the prison system, exploring abuse of power, survival and the fine line between authority and humanity.
Filming inside an actual prison in New Mexico was an experience I won’t forget. You could feel the tension between inmates and staff, the emotional exhaustion, the survival mode on both sides.
It left me asking: Where is the humanity inside systems built around control, punishment and protection?
And another difficult truth: How do we protect human rights while also protecting the safety of staff, inmates and society when those rights are abused?
There’s a very fine line between humanity, abuse of power and safety.
The bigger question is: How do we create systems that provide psychological safety, accountability, rehabilitation and protection for everyone involved?
Experiences like this are one of the reasons I continue working toward bringing my clinically proven 4 Body Fit™ Method into spaces focused on rehabilitation, trauma recovery and post-traumatic stress support.
This project stayed with me long after filming wrapped.
The documentary will soon be seen on Netflix and other broadcast platforms. I’ll keep you posted.
Sometimes the most important conversations are the uncomfortable ones.
