Teenage moms deserve compassion. Compassion is not approval.

One of the questions I was asked during the panel was about teenage mothers.

Here’s my take.

Some people assume that showing compassion means you’re excusing poor decisions. I don’t believe that’s true.

Compassion doesn’t remove accountability. It doesn’t erase consequences. It simply means we choose to respond with dignity instead of condemnation.

I don’t believe women—or anyone, for that matter—become better because they’re shamed.

They grow when they’re given truth, support, guidance, and hope.

As a society, we can discourage teenage pregnancy while still caring deeply for teenage mothers. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

Because a person’s circumstances should never be the final chapter of their story.

HOW CAN WE BECOME A BETTER COMMUNITY FOR MOTHERS?
(Pardon me for a very long post ahead, please hear me out)

Last night, I had the privilege of representing Glory Reborn with Gladys Gil Porminal at Voices of Tomorrow: Young Mothers, Strong Futures, hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila and Alliance Française de Cebu

The evening began with two moving films from Belgium and France, followed by a meaningful dialogue on young motherhood, family, and the role communities play in helping families thrive.

One thing that stayed with me throughout the evening was this:

THERE IS STILL HOPE.

The women in the films carried different stories, different struggles, and different circumstances. Some faced rejection, uncertainty, and difficult choices. Yet every story reminded us that a person’s future should never be defined by their hardest season.

One thing I appreciated was seeing how intentional different countries are in creating programs and support systems that walk alongside mothers and families. It also challenged me to reflect on what more we can continue building here in the Philippines. 🥹

At the same time, I believe we already have something incredibly powerful—our spirit of bayanihan. The willingness to show up for one another. To carry one another’s burdens. To remind a mother that she doesn’t have to do it alone.

Healthy families are never built by mothers alone. They flourish when families, healthcare workers, educators, faith communities, organizations, and neighbors choose to walk alongside them.

But while communities can create opportunities, no one can make another person’s choices for them.

Hope begins when someone believes in you. But lasting transformation happens when you begin to believe that your future can be different from your present.

Perhaps the question isn’t, “How can mothers do better?”

Maybe it’s, “How can we become a better community for mothers?”

Because when mothers flourish, families flourish. And when families flourish, communities become stronger. 💜

The most enduring bridges between nations are often built through culture before they are built through policy.

For the longest time, I thought understanding came from explanation.

So when my son was diagnosed with autism, I explained.

I explained why he reacted differently.

Why therapy mattered.

Why certain situations overwhelmed him.

I thought if I explained it well enough, people would understand.

But the more I explained, the less people seemed to connect.

Everything changed when I started SHARING our everyday life instead.

The little wins.

The hard days.

The breakthroughs.

The ordinary moments.

People didn’t just understand autism.

They understood us.

That realization stayed with me.

Years later, after building businesses, working with organizations, and helping brands tell their stories, I realized marketing works the same way.

Many businesses spend so much time explaining what they do.

Their services.

Their products.

Their packages.

Their features.

But people rarely remember explanations.

They remember experiences.

They remember people.

They remember stories.

That’s why I believe great marketing isn’t about saying more.

It’s about helping people feel something.

If someone visited your Instagram today, would they simply understand what you sell…

or would they understand why it matters?

That’s the difference between content that gets seen and a brand that gets remembered.
