What type of objective tests are done? Usually this involves some sort of evaluation to determine what kind of care or treatment is appropriate. In the chiropractic world this may be x-rays, orthopedic tests, postural evaluation, surface emg, or thermography, among others.
Since symptoms are a woefully ineffective measure of functional progress, there needs to be periodic re-evaluations to check for 𝐨𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 changes during the course of care. This may include checking for structural changes, increased range of motion, changes in muscle tone, or range of motion.
Which leads to the next question...
Is the focus of care only on symptomatic relief or is it focus on addressing the root cause of the condition? This is important because you can feel way better after care, but still have several structural imbalances that can, and usually do, cause issues down the line.
Then, in my opinion, it would be a huge waste of time and money if the practice member isn’t given some sort of advice or recommendation of lifestyle changes they can make in an effort to avoid undoing any progress that may have been made while under care. This may be in the form of ergonomic recommendations, nutritional changes, or stress reduction techniques.
At the end of the day, every chiropractic practice is different. By knowing what your goals are ahead of time, you can choose the practice that best suits your needs.
