The evening will feature a performance by Tony Award nominee Jared Grimes and a chance to connect with fellow supporters over cocktail hour and dinner — all while celebrating BRC’s impact.

The 2026 Way Home Gala will now begin at 6 p.m.

At BRC, flexibility and responsiveness are at the heart of everything we do — and that spirit extends to our gala as well.

With the Knicks heading to the NBA Finals – and with Game 3 tipping off at The Garden at 8:40 p.m. on the evening of June 8 – the same night as our gala – we didn’t want our community to have to choose between supporting BRC and cheering on a generational and unforgettable moment in New York sports history.

So, to make it possible to celebrate both, we’ll be starting the party a little earlier. We look forward to celebrating an inspiring evening with you.

See you on June 8. Hopefully with a 2-0 lead!

With the 2026 Inwood Film Festival kicking off tomorrow, we are going back in time to share some images from last month’s festival kickoff event. We were elated to learn that our 15-minute documentary ‘Serving on Sacred Ground: The Story of BRC’s Inwood Site’ was going to be included in this year’s lineup.

The event was attended by Kyle Jeremiah, BRC Director of External Affairs, and Peggy King Jorde, who has worked closely with BRC on the Inwood Sacred Site.

This week, BRC has partnered with the for their annual ‘Founders’ Month’ initiative. A dedicated team of 19 volunteers came together over two days to transform the patio at Glass Factory Apartments, a BRC permanent housing program.

They revitalized the space by cleaning and replanting the flower beds, scraping and painting all handrails and the front entrance gate, and donating and assembling three new park benches. Their efforts will continue with power washing the entire patio and polishing the wood trim in the lobby and dining area, bringing new life and warmth to the community for all who call it home.

Our Director of Volunteer Services, Rick Akin shares, “I’m always grateful to partner with Turner Construction during their annual Founders’ Month. Their professionalism, skill, and genuine compassion shine through in every project, and their commitment to our mission truly makes a difference. Thank you for all you do for BRC and the community!”

Turner Construction Company marks its anniversary each May through its global ‘Founders’ Month’ initiative in honor of the company’s establishment in 1902. Throughout the month, they take part in volunteer efforts by partnering with non-profits to create a meaningful impact in the communities they serve.

We at BRC are deeply grateful for their continued partnership.

The Featured Entertainer at the 2026 Way Home Gala is…..Jared Grimes!

Jared Grimes is a quadruple threat, having starred on Broadway, in films and on TV as an actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer. He was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for the recent Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

Last month, Jared won a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Choreography for New York Theatre Workshop’s Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole. He performed for Barack Obama at DC’s Kennedy Center and toured with music legend Mariah Carey. He has also danced with Common, Salt-n-Pepa, Envogue, Busta Rhymes and the Roots.

At BRC, we understand that love is in the little details. The team at one of BRC’s permanent affordable housing in the Bronx, put together special Mother’s Day gift bags for the incredible tenants in the community.

Each bag is filled with care, appreciation, and a reminder that every mother deserves to feel celebrated.
