Take only what resonates ✨
(There is NOTHING wrong with needing or having help especially when it comes to health limitations. This is Based on my personal experience)
Living alone has been one of the biggest learning curves in my life so far. There is a different level of accountability that comes from being the one solely responsible for a house hold.
Living alone shows you where your blind spots are, it also shows you what matters. You are the one who directly suffers from a lack of care and prioritization. You begin to see the areas in which you have allowed others to carry you.
Forget to take the chicken out? No one to text
Forget to bring the garbage down? No one to call
Short on rent? Well you are s**t out of luck
Didn’t wash the dishes ? They will wait for you
You are the only one dealing with the repercussions of your actions. No one is coming to save you. You are the one reasonable for taking care of yourself. The maturity that comes from the experience has been invaluable.
Scrolling isn’t even a thought when I know my dogs need to be fed and played with, my garden needs to be watered. My dishwasher unloaded and reloaded, my laundry put away Etc. if I don’t do it, it won’t get done. Sure sometimes I put those things off when my priority is rest and recharging but more often than not that can’t be the case or my home and my mental health would not function correctly
Sometimes I have to be my own parent and put my needs before my wants
Prioritizing time, energy, funds to prepare meals, to clean the house, care for animals, enjoy hobbies, a social life etc. Living alone has allowed me to cultivate a relationship of trust with myself.
I CAN do anything but not everything. Not everything I CAN do needs to be done. I trust myself to prioritize what matters.
Ive lived with a lot of people. I’ve learned new things from all of them. I’ve learned the absolute most from living alone with myself.
“The Bird doesn’t trust the branch, it trusts its ability to fly if the branch breaks”
I hope to share my home again someday, but it was important first I learned trust my own wings
