It has been a busy week for Julia, and she’s been handling it well. Yahoo!
Her schooling has been much better lately, and soon she will only have math and science to finish the current year in her homeschool program, which is behind her original year, but I don’t care. She is super smart and has learned more about life than most adults know.
We may need a local tutor to help her with this last little bit.
Once she finishes those last two subjects, we will decide what’s next for her for school. She doesn’t want to go back to a physical school, the hours just don’t work out well for a night owl; we will find a different homeschool program, something a bit more dynamic, hopefully. Thank you to all who responded to my post about it. It gets overwhelming because of course we want to do what is best for her.
Today, we had an appointment for her to get fitted for a new ankle brace - one that will hopefully allow her to have less pain when walking. She still gets extremely fatigued after exerting herself. I hope that this gets better with time because it is just heartbreaking. I want her to be able to hike with me. She loves wildlife, nature, and birds just as much as I do!
We took a little trip to Siesta Key, Florida, recently. She was not up for the short walk to the beach to watch sunset, except for one evening, the coldest one. See photo.
We visited the Circus Museum in Sarasota and by the end of a couple of hours, she was just flat out done. Luckily, they have volunteers with golf carts and one gave her a ride back to the parking lot.
Waiting for an x-ray now for her upcoming telehealth visit at MSKCC. Thank goodness for technology! Not only do we not have to go into the city for her appointment, we found a local imaging place that can electronically transmit the x-rays. Previously we had to mail it (gasp!) or get it on a cd, and upload it with software from the library.
We are grateful that Julia is feeling better lately, and look forward to longer and brighter days.
