Thank you to our dedicated staff, community partners, and everyone who came out to prioritize their health. By making breast cancer screenings more accessible, we’re helping empower our community through prevention, education, and early detection.

If you’re due for a mammogram, don’t wait—early detection can make all the difference. 💕

💙 Palliative Care and Advance Directives are not the same—but understanding the difference can empower you and your loved ones.

Knowing your options is one of the most important steps you can take in planning for your healthcare journey.

✨ Palliative Care focuses on improving quality of life by helping manage symptoms, pain, and stress at any stage of a serious illness. It works alongside your medical treatment to provide comfort and support for both patients and families.

📝 Advance Directives are legal documents that allow you to communicate your healthcare wishes in the event you’re unable to speak for yourself. They help ensure your voice is heard and your values are respected.

Having these conversations early can provide clarity, reduce uncertainty, and bring peace of mind for everyone involved.

At University Hospital Cancer Center, in partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute, we’re committed to providing compassionate care, education, and resources to help patients make informed decisions with confidence.

💙 Know your options. Plan with confidence. Live with peace of mind.

If you have questions about palliative care or advance directives, speak with your healthcare provider or a member of our care team—we’re here to help.

💛 July is Sarcoma Awareness Month 💛

This month, we stand together to raise awareness about sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that develops in the bones and soft tissues, including muscles, fat, blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue.

Although sarcomas account for only about 1% of adult cancers, early detection can make a significant difference in treatment outcomes. By learning the signs, sharing information, and supporting continued research, we can help improve awareness and provide hope for those affected by this rare disease.

Every diagnosis represents a unique journey of courage, resilience, and strength. During Sarcoma Awareness Month, we honor patients, survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who continue to inspire us every day.

Together, we can make a difference by spreading awareness, encouraging early detection, and supporting life-saving research.

💛 Spread awareness.
💛 Share knowledge.
💛 Support research.

🌸 Survivorship in Bloom: Planting Seeds of Healing 🌸

This past Saturday, June 27, the University Hospital Cancer Center blossomed with hope, healing, and heartfelt connection as survivors, families, friends, and volunteers came together for Survivorship in Bloom: Planting Seeds Through Healing.

The afternoon was a beautiful reminder that while cancer may be part of someone’s story, it does not define the strength, resilience, and courage of those who continue to thrive beyond treatment.

From the moment guests arrived, they were welcomed into a space intentionally created to encourage healing, reflection, fellowship, and joy. Survivors explored the Bloom Bar, shared messages of hope in the Garden of Hope, connected with fellow survivors, visited wellness resource tables, enjoyed refreshments and handcrafted smoothies from the Majestic Smoothie & Juice Bar, captured special memories at our photo opportunities, and participated in giveaways throughout the afternoon.

We were especially honored to welcome Rev. R. David Keith, whose powerful words of faith, hope, and encouragement reminded us all that healing is not only physical, but also emotional and spiritual. His message served as a meaningful source of inspiration for everyone in attendance.

A special thank you to Bruno Lee for filling the atrium with beautiful live trumpet music that created an atmosphere of peace, comfort, and celebration throughout the event. Your gift of music truly touched the hearts of our survivors and their loved ones.

Thank you to Dana Carter for leading our heartfelt Circle of Hope, creating a safe and uplifting space for reflection, encouragement, and shared experiences. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Shakerah Allen for warmly welcoming our guests and helping set the tone for an unforgettable afternoon, and to Nutcha Elianor for her dedication in bringing this special celebration to life.

Most importantly, thank you to every survivor who joined us. Your courage, perseverance, and unwavering strength continue to inspire us each and every day. It was truly an honor to celebrate your journey and recognize the incredible resilience you embody.

We are also deeply grateful to our volunteers, generous donors, sponsors, and everyone who contributed their time, talents, and support to make this event such a meaningful success.

Together, we celebrated healing.
Together, we celebrated hope.
Together, we celebrated survivorship.

Because healing doesn’t end when treatment does—it continues to bloom through faith, community, compassion, and connection.
