A bit of an update on Brady... since the very end of September he's had now 15 seizures. He's currently on 3 different seizure medicines trying to get them under control. At fist they were spread out every 3 weeks, but now they are at least once a week. He's had an EEG that revealed nothing. He's had them out of the blue for no reason at all. On Christmas Day, on New Year's Eve, they have been relentless: 3 days ago he woke up, and had a seizure within 15 minutes. I have a zoom call with his neurologist on Wednesday, because one of the medicines are causing some serious anger and aggression. I won't go into details, but it got bad and so they lowered the second medicine back down to a somewhat attainable dose and then added a third one.

In addition to all of that going on, Brady lots a TON of weight. He was/is having some very complicated stomach issues. We've gotten labs done, been to the ER multiple times, on Christmas Eve he had an MEI entrography done. His gastroenterologist called and said he felt Brady needed more socialized care because of the complex issues he has had to date and the severity of the MRI scans. This past Thursday we met with another socialist in Cincinnati. Labs were repeated again, some are very off and next he is scheduled to go have an upper and lower gi done. They want it done asap. We are waiting on scheduling. I assume we will hear from them tomorrow.

He is scheduled to get Botox early next month and then in March he will be admitted for a week long therapy intensive.

And finally, they are also sending Brady for second opinions/consults with specialist at Cincinnati Children's.

To say his medical issues have made us weary is an understatement. We are exhausted with appointments, him feeling bad, and just not having answers.

I'll post more when I can put more in words, but it's starting to feel like we are in a never ending cycle of nothing works and if it does it's causing major issues to other body systems.

Please continue to pray for him.

So last Saturday night Brady had another seizure. The Dr made the decision to increase his second seizure medicine early this week, even though he and we were hoping to hold off on that.

Last night at a restaurant, another seizure. They are smaller than they once were but he is still having them. And last night, he didn't feel like he had much of a warning like the previous ones.

I put in a message since I'm supposed to keep them updated. I'm just wondering if he needs a different medication entirely.

On Christmas Eve, he will go in for the big CT of his digestive tract.

Yesterday was infusion day. We muscle through it. Brady is such a trooper and I absolutely hate poking him with needles... unfortunately the infusion requires 5 needles.

Sunday we had the annual Christmas event.. he left early with his sister and it was a good thing he did because he ended up having 2 seizures that night. Unfortunately he was alone for the first one but with one of his siblings for the second one. He did inform me that he was brave and tried to stay calm. In typical Brady fashion, when I got home, he hugged me, told me how much he loved me and paid me a compliment, telling me to never let anyone say different. I really do have one of the sweetest 15 year olds out there.

The GI doc finally got us scheduled for a specialized MRI... it took a bit to get it scheduled because you cannot eat or drink(even water) for 8 hours prior... I refused to make him go throughout the day without even water... so they got it scheduled first thing in the morning... unfortunately it's on Christmas Eve... in Louisville. It's totally fine, we will wear our Santa hats, listen to Christmas music and look forward to our yearly Chinese take out after we get back to town.

Yesterday we went to urgent care because he tripped over his... ready for it????? Big toe. Thankfully it's not broken, just a nasty sprain that will take a while to heal.. stupid foot drop.

Stay tuned.. with Brady, you just never know.

Photo of yesterdays infusion. 5 needles.. 3 in one leg, 2 in the other. 2.5 hours of sitting and waiting for the pump to infuse. Last night his legs hurt so bad he limped around until bedtime.

Started the day off with a seizure... no... not once he was hooked up and they could monitor it, he had a seizure in the car, on the way there.

Nothing big stood out to the tech today, but that doesn't mean abnormal electrical activity wasn't happening that we just didn't see. Hopefully the person reading it will let us know by tomorrow what he saw. It's likely that Brady's next steps will be to have a 24 hour eeg.

Brady finally got his first at home infusion to help with his IG levels last Tuesday. He felt a bit crummy for about 24 hours. He will have another one at day 14 and then every 14 days after. Really hoping he starts to see some very positive results from these. Tim and I will be administering it this next time. (It honestly is totally doable. The hardest if finding 5 areas on his stomach or thighs we can pinch at least an inch of fat to get the needles places.)

Today, he had yet another seizure. I believe I mentioned they added another seizure medicine to his daily regimen... he is having some concerning side effects from it though. His vision is very blurry. I've reported this to his neurologist and am just waiting on a call back.

Tonight he isn't allowed to go to bed until midnight and then we have to wake him up at 4am to travel to Louisville again. He will have a sleep deprived EEG in the morning. 😬

I'll post more as I know more but we appreciate all the prayers.

Photo from a week ago for another Louisville Dr appointment. Look at how tall he is now!!

Smallest of updates...

A new medicine has been ordered for Brady for the ongoing seizures. He starts both the gastro doctor prescribed and the one his neuro prescribed tonight. I know I said it last time, but hopefully, he won't have any more seizures...

As far as his IgG infusion goes... I might have to sell my soul on this one. 🥴 So lots of back and fourth and as I think I mentioned before, he was approved. We have met our deductible and out of pocket thankfully, but that starts over in January. So I had to sign a financial agreement to pay our 500 deductible plus our 10% starting in January until we reach our out of pocket... to the tune of $1600 something a month. Now, with that said, our out of pocket max is $4000 so it wouldn't take long... I did reach out to a patient liaison through our insurance and talking with her, the plan is to start with this company just to get him medicated asap and then switch to a different infusion within our insurance where the cost shouldn't be as much... I don't understand it all and honestly I don't care to. I just want him to start infusions.

I got a call from the pharmacy to go over risks... yall, please pray for no clots to form, no meningitis to happen or any other issue that could arise while using this. This company is currently working on trying to get nursing staff for the first 3 visits to "teach us" how to administer at home. Hopefully next Tuesday... we should get the infusion pump, epi pen, pre meds, needs, tubes, etc and medicine a day or 2 prior and then a delivery once a month for the medicine and premeds which I believe is going to be Benadryl and pain meds.

The infusions will now be every 2 weeks and they will take between 1-3 hours to complete.
