If you're noticing more bruises than usual, with only light bumps or no memory of injury, your body may be trying to flag something important. Frequent bruising can be a sign of vitamin C or K deficiency, collagen loss, or liver dysfunction affecting how your blood clots. These nutrients help maintain the strength and elasticity of your blood vessels and tissues.

Your liver plays a crucial role in detoxification, hormone metabolism, and producing clotting factors. If it's overburdened, due to environmental toxins, alcohol, nutrient depletion, or a high inflammatory load, small signs like bruising can begin to appear.

Low protein intake, poor gut absorption, or long-term use of certain medications (like blood thinners, steroids, or NSAIDs) can also increase bruising risk by weakening connective tissue or impairing healing.

Want to get to the bottom of your nutrient status, gut health, or liver function? Let's talk.

Your skin feels thinner. Your cheeks don't seem as full. Your jawline is softer. Fine lines seem to appear overnight...

If you're in your 40s or 50s, this might be how your face is changing.

These changes often begin during perimenopause, when shifting hormone levels affect much more than your menstrual cycle. Estrogen plays an important role in collagen production, skin hydration, elasticity, and facial volume. As hormone levels change, it's normal for your appearance to change, too.

The good news is that healthy aging isn't just about what you put on your skin. Nutrition, blood sugar balance, sleep, stress, gut health, movement, and hormone health all play a role in how your skin ages.

Understanding what's happening beneath the surface can help you make informed choices to support your skin and your health through every stage of midlife.

Are you constantly dealing with chronic bloating that never seems to get better?

Stress doesn't just affect how you feel emotionally. It can affect how you feel physically, too.

Many people notice digestive changes during times of stress, such as:

• Bloating
• Nausea
• Stomach discomfort
• Changes in bowel habits
• Loss of appetite, or feeling hungrier than usual

That's because your brain and your gut are constantly communicating through what's known as the gut-brain axis.

Have you ever been surprised by how much stress affected your gut?

As estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol fluctuate, whether during your menstrual cycle, pregnancy, perimenopause, menopause, or periods of chronic stress, many women notice changes in their mood, anxiety, sleep, and ability to cope with everyday life.

Nutrition is another important piece of the puzzle. Your brain relies on nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, iron, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids to support healthy neurotransmitter function and a balanced stress response. When you're not getting enough of these nutrients, it can make it harder for your brain and body to function at their best.

Mental health is complex, and hormones and nutrition are just two of the many factors that can influence how you feel.

If you've been struggling with mood changes or anxiety, it's worth considering the bigger picture. Your body and your brain are deeply connected, and understanding that connection can be the first step toward feeling more like yourself again.

Most people have never heard of boron, but it supports the body in so many ways!

From supporting cognitive function and bone health, to helping the body use nutrients like vitamin D and magnesium, and even supporting a healthy inflammatory response.

It's a trace mineral found in foods like almonds, avocados, raisins, prunes, and apples, and while your body only needs small amounts, it may play a surprisingly important role in brain health.

Research suggests that low boron intake may be associated with reduced attention, slower reaction times, and poorer short-term memory.

A varied, whole-food diet is the best way to obtain essential nutrients, along with supplements when appropriate for your individual needs.

Healthspan isn't about adding more years to your life. It's about making sure those years are healthy, active, and fulfilling.

Here are six areas that have one of the biggest impacts on how well we age:

- Nutrition to nourish your body, support gut health, healthy blood sugar, and natural detoxification.
- Metabolic health to help maintain healthy blood sugar regulation, insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular health, and energy.
- Strength and muscle mass to preserve mobility, independence, balance, and metabolic health as you age.
- Sleep and recovery to support hormone balance, brain function, immune health, and tissue repair.
- Brain health and mental well-being to protect memory, cognitive function, emotional resilience, and overall quality of life.
- A proactive approach that identifies opportunities to optimize your health before more significant concerns arise through comprehensive assessments, advanced testing, and personalized recommendations.

It's easy to focus on a single lab result, but one number rarely tells us everything.

Your health is constantly changing. Hormones fluctuate. Nutrient levels shift. Inflammation comes and goes. Even factors like sleep, stress, illness, exercise, and where you are in your menstrual cycle can influence your results.

Sometimes the most valuable information comes from:
- Comparing results over time
- Looking at how different markers relate to one another
- Considering your symptoms alongside your labs

The goal of testing isn't simply to find something “abnormal.” It's to better understand how your body is functioning and use that information to guide your care.

Because one snapshot can be helpful, but seeing the bigger picture is where the real insights begin.

Fiber does much more than support regular digestion. It also plays an important role in gut health, blood sugar balance, heart health, cholesterol levels, and keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

Here are 5 simple ways to add more fiber to your day:

1. Start your morning with fiber. Choose oatmeal, chia pudding, or plain Greek yogurt topped with berries, ground flaxseed, and nuts instead of a refined breakfast.
2. Fill half your plate with vegetables. Aim for a variety of colours to nourish both you and your gut microbiome.
3. Add beans and lentils whenever you can. Toss them into soups, salads, tacos, or pasta sauces for an easy fiber and protein boost.
4. Snack on whole foods. Swap chips or crackers for fruit, veggies with hummus, or a handful of nuts and seeds.
5. Make simple swaps. Choose whole grain bread, brown rice, quinoa, or whole wheat pasta more often than refined grains.

One important tip: Increase your fiber gradually and drink plenty of water. Adding too much too quickly can lead to bloating or discomfort while your digestive system adjusts.
