Things have been a bit slow on the research front.
As far as while we do have our in progress research sometimes these things take time so while we are awaiting documents or more info from varying sources we have availability to help people solve their family mysteries.

You ever feel like giving up in your research don't. It's likely it is just hiding.

A neighbor a family friend someone slightly connected
And suddenly you are down a rabbit hole.

Finding things that have alluded you for a long time. We were about at the 3 years mark when last night we found something new.

One of ours is James(maybe Harold) cook
We know he married Louesa (named spelled 800 different ways) then the last name Wulf Wolfe wolf Wulfe pick your document and that's how it's spelled that time. ancestry kept insisting James Lathem cook but the timelines were a bit wonky. We had no proof our James Cook had ever left Tennessee once he arrived at a young age.
James L Cook was in Arkansas later in life. And that's heavily documented.

They had quite a few children before her passing then he married way younger and it only lasted 8 months. We couldn't find much at first.
Then we found a census record not long before they married where he was boarding with her family after his wife passed. This was his 2nd marriage to an Anis/Annice/Anne/Anna Lovin Lavin Lovins Lavins Loving Lovings again pick your document and day of the week.
After the it seems she married to an Epps. We found no children of this Union between James and Anis. And we wonder why it was such a short time as there's no documented reason such as passing of one or both or anything. Or loss of a child that might have let to the Union in the first place

Then he married his 3rd wife Eva Malinda Orrick Orick Arick Arrick. Seeing a theme with the last name issue.regardless this is where we still get a bit hung up
We know where the children are.
We know where her parents are. But both her and James are only listed as in the family cemetery we have physically checked the ones where family are interred however they are either not there or the markers are long gone.

Despite the others having markers.
Seems like we are due a trip to the physical archives in Hawkins County. Or for Hawkins county.

Regardless we do know he passed between 1920 census and 1930 census. Because by 1930 Eva was listed as widowed . And all records of him have stopped. But where he was buried is anyone's best guess.

We are determined to find where he and Eva ended up and if we do we will work on markers for them.

If only better cemetery records had been kept in the early 1900s
But we have not given up yet. We have the cemetery books but neither are listed there either unfortunately.

But never give up never surrender. The answers are there. Just hiding.

So we have mentioned it a few times that we have been hunting for C Ms birth family. About 2 months ago a person we shall call Ts DNA appeared. As a very close match. So we found a closer possible relation based off Ts DNA. And this person also who we shall call T tested and we were right so we started looking harder at this T area. And today we spoke to C Ms possible half brother. While we still have about 2 to 3 more months of waiting we will get to know if that's the case but after 3 years this is a HUGE step. And we are glad we got to the bottom of it!

Tomorrow is a big day! We are meeting with someone we helped her mom find her dad and half brother , as well as now she has a uncle she didn't know about!
That's why we do what we do! To help people find their families!
And then we are checking out a cemetery as well as heading to Restore Yett Cemetery!
It's taking time but every time we go it is progress.
