Last week, Havenwood welcomed First City Dance Studio for a fun National Tap Dance Day celebration. Residents and staff alike enjoyed watching the talented dancers perform and even joined in on the fun.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Today, we reflect with gratitude on the courage, service, and selflessness of those who gave their lives for our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at Havenwood, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙

As Nursing Home Week comes to a close, we just want to say thank you to our incredible residents, staff, families, volunteers, and community members who helped make this week so special. 💙

From games and laughter to treats, activities, and time spent together, this week was a reminder of what makes our community so meaningful — the people.

💕 Happy Mother’s Day!

Today we celebrate the incredible mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who fill our lives with love, strength, and kindness. We wish all of our residents, resident families, and staff a beautiful and joy-filled day. 🌸

☕ This afternoon at Havenwood, our residents enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day tea featuring coffee, tea, a wonderful assortment of desserts served on fine china, and live entertainment. ✨

On Wednesday, Kim Sundquist and Laura Erickson from ElderCare of Bemidji attended Long Term Care Day at the Capitol in St. Paul to speak with Senator Steve Green and Representative Bidal Duran. Our main goals? To ask our lawmakers to oppose further cuts to Minnesota’s seniors that were proposed in Governor Walz supplemental budget. Nursing homes across the state and the seniors we serve suffered significant cuts and caps as part of last year’s budget decisions. Further changes would almost certainly speed up the closure of nursing homes in Minnesota, leaving less places for seniors to live. The cascade effect could be catastrophic as elderly people have less places to discharge after hospital stays and remain in hospitals longer, which reduces hospital capacity to care for other acute medical issues. Send your lawmakers a note, letting them know you don’t want more cuts to long-term care. We also want to mention Representative Joe Schomacker who is the co-chair of the Human Service Finance Committee and has been a huge advocate for our seniors! We will miss him as he retires this year.

We want to thank both Senator Green and Representative Duran for meeting with us and supporting our seniors!
