June is Men's Mental Health Month.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with many men from different walks of life. One thing that has always stood out to me is how often men carry pain quietly. Many have been taught to push through, stay strong, and keep moving, even when they are struggling.
The reality is that strength is not the absence of emotion. Strength is having the courage to acknowledge when something is hard, ask for support, and continue moving forward. Mental health challenges do not discriminate, and neither should our conversations about them.
As clinicians, family members, friends, and community members, we have an opportunity to create spaces where men feel safe enough to be honest about their experiences without fear of judgment. Sometimes healing begins with a simple conversation and the knowledge that you do not have to carry everything alone.
This month, I encourage us to check in on the men in our lives and to remember that seeking help is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of courage.
There is room for everyone to receive support, healing, and hope.
