any “hack” is a practice that might jump start outcome, but doesn’t reset the system 🙈 so i’m sorry to say, no you cannot “hack” your way into happiness.

you can practice your way into awareness
you can begin noticing the patterns, habits, thoughts, body cues, and nervous system responses that shape how you feel every day

eventually (yes, cue time), that can result in you getting curious enough to ask:
what is this showing me?
what do i need more of?
what do i need less of?
what is 1 small practice that could support my stress levels, reducing bloating and imagine food digestion, sleep, regular meal times, moving my body, X?

your body and mind are not separate. your thoughts influence your physiology thus breathing regulation. your breath influences your nervous system. your nervous system influences your digestion, hormones, energy, mood, and capacity to feel present in your life 🧠✨🫀

so start small
choose 1 daily practice
1 moment of awareness
1 breath before reacting
1 walk after a meal
1 pause before reaching for the next distraction
1 question: “what is my body trying to tell me?”

searching for happiness and achieving a clear “quiet” mind does not begin with a complete life overhaul. sometimes it begins with recognizing that you are an active participant in your own happiness and health.

start where you are, get in touch with your ability to become aware. if getting curious is your thing, follow along for more curiosities yet discovered.

postpartum recovery is often framed as a second-thought, as if to ignore the real biological demands that occur to grow a fetus and placenta, in addition to birthing them. this is why postpartum care needs to go beyond 6-weeks and the thinking that anyone should push through to build resilience🤰

after checking in with one of my postpartum mama’s, she’s feeling back into her rhythm, while a new rhythm, one that nourishes and sustains her and her baby.

focusing on repletion through nutrient support, blood sugar stability and digestive aid has made the difference, while understanding the elevated demands she’s recovering from. making it make sense and realistic is how you thrive and functionally adapt to any new path you walk 🕊️

ask questions and advocate for yourself when you think something is off 📢 going beyond resilience means proper evaluation and care. investigative labs and follow up. sustainable nourishment and real support 🤝

this is for when, even as a naturopathic doctor, i’ve thought i was doing wellness “wrong”

➡️ like forcing a 5AM wake up when my body is actually begging for rest
➡️ trying to supplement my way out of an undernourished, dysregulated system that has lead to taking “support” for the sake of honestly a placebo effect that i’d just “get better” — “like the bottle says it’ll give me energy…”
➡️ thinking that what someone else nourishes themselves with, means it is nourishing for me and cutting out foods only because i have been conditioned to think some certain foods/food groups are “bad”
➡️ sticking to rigid workouts 🥵 even when my body clues me in and asks for restorative movement, along with rthymic practices that meet me where i am
➡️ believing someone else has the exact answer to my personal needs and my body’s biochemical needs

🐭 so take this as your reminder: you don’t need to blindly follow the crowd to be “well”
your health is not a trend
your needs are not a template to be downloaded from online
by no means, should your routine look like anyone else’s to be valid

wellness “hacks” become a lot more supportive when you stop chasing what looks appealing online and start getting curious, asking yourself:
what do i and my body need?
what actually gives me energy?
what helps me feel regulated?
what feels sustainable in this season?
am i doing anything out of fear, pressure or comparison?

that said for the online space, even on my page —
take what supports you, leave what doesn’t 🙏

just don’t forget to tune in before you opt in 🧠❤️✨

let me know if you’ve ever felt like your weren’t doing wellness “right” 😒

salt is NOT automatically bad for you
your body needs sodium and chloride for fluid balance, nerve signaling, muscle contraction, stomach acid and cellular energy regulation🧂

the problem is NOT usually a pinch of salt on home cooked meals, as it is excess sodium from ultra processed foods, low potassium intake and individual health factors like blood pressure, kidney function, medication use and activity level 🥵

biochemically, sodium helps power electrical gradients across your cell membranes, which is part of how nerves fire, muscles contract and cells maintain proper function 💪

practical takeaways:
eat mostly whole foods 🥒
limit heavily processed foods 🌯
get enough potassium 🥑
replace electrolytes when you sweat heavily 💦
adjust sodium based on your health status & lifestyle 🩺

salt is NOT the enemy
the wrong dose in the wrong context is the problem

breakfast is a non-negotiable

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

hear me out from experience, i speak from a childhood presentation of “weakness” and ultimately fainting all the time. due in part to irregular eating, specifically in the morning.

while the body needs carbohydrates, starches and sugars to survive and allow our ATP/energy functioning to work and be sustainable. it can’t only be given those nutrients to function and expect optimal results. meals, especially the first one of the day, like break-fast is just that a breaking of a fast. so the body is craving minerals from electrolytes and water (necessary hydration) AND protein (building blocks of the body) along with fat, fibers and micronutrients.

*cue the response: “but i don’t feel hungry in the morning,” “i feel nausea upon waking,” “i have more energy when i fast … but have an afternoon crash or early evening.”

if you’ve been around, you know the importance of the nervous system in my content
if you stick around, you’ll gain curiosity of how the systems and symptoms you have connect

that said, i promote a larger breakfast than you think or “typically” would have that has equal parts variety

check in mid-morning and afternoon, how does prioritizing eating meals support you throughout your day?

if you’re tapping into an appetite, work on getting into a parasympathetic aka relaxed state more often than not 🥘

EQUISETUM ARVENSE, also known as horsetail 🌿

known for its content of silica and trace minerals, this ancient plant is traditionally used to support connective tissue, hair, nails and overall vitality of the body 🩻

it supports the body by:
1️⃣ decreasing inflammation
2️⃣ promote bone and connective tissue health
3️⃣ activate immune function
4️⃣ strengthen skin collagen and nerve connections

fun fact: horsetail is a living fossil and has been around since before the dinosaurs 🦕

SO much to learn from the nature surrounding us 💚
