We’re pretty excited about this one! 💙
DRM Wellness founder Laura is heading to Kansas City to present at the 2026 Joint Conference: Building Community: Harnessing the Power of OT in the Heartland!
Laura will be presenting:
Beyond the Scale: Providing Bariatric Care Without Bias: Trauma-Informed, Occupation-Focused Care for Plus-Size and Bariatric Clients
📅 Saturday, October 3
⏰ 2:00–3:00 PM
📍 MCC Penn Valley, Kansas City
If you’ve followed DRM Wellness for a while, you know this topic is a BIG part of who we are and what we believe in.
Providing great care to plus-size and bariatric clients isn’t about making everything about weight. It’s about looking at the whole person, recognizing bias, understanding how previous healthcare experiences can impact care, and doing what OTs do best: helping people participate in the occupations that matter to them.
We are incredibly proud that Laura gets to bring this conversation to fellow occupational therapy professionals from across the Heartland and beyond!
The conference is a joint event featuring MOTA, NOTA, and IOTA, but you definitely don’t have to be from Missouri, Nebraska, or Iowa to attend.
And there’s another great reason to go: AOTA President Dr. Arameh Anvarizadeh, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA will be the keynote speaker!
One more thing: TOMORROW is the LAST DAY for early bird registration!
If you’re an OT, OTA, student, educator, or just one of our OT friends who loves learning and connecting with other professionals, come join us in Kansas City!
And if you’re there, make sure you stop by Laura’s session and say hi. 💙
