As St. Landry Parish prepares for the possibility of flooding, we encourage residents to take a few simple steps now: review evacuation plans, gather important documents, refill medications, and prepare a "Go Bag."

If you or a loved one relies on medical equipment, take time to ensure devices are fully charged, backup power sources are available and necessary medical supplies are easily accessible. Planning can help reduce stress and provide valuable peace of mind should conditions change quickly.

Follow trusted local officials for the latest updates and preparedness information.

Most people think they're hydrated because they drink water when they're thirsty. But true hydration is about more than just drinking water—it's about how well your body absorbs and uses it.

A good rule of thumb: Don't wait until you're thirsty. Sip water consistently throughout the day, especially if you're active, spending time outdoors, or drinking caffeine.

Remember: Proper hydration supports energy, digestion, circulation, and overall wellness.

Opelousas General is proud to share George Lieux’s inspiring recovery story.

After a serious injury left him with a painful, difficult-to-heal wound, Lieux sought care at The Wound Treatment Center after continued discomfort elsewhere. There, he became the first patient to receive APLICOR 3D treatment—a groundbreaking approach that uses the patient’s own body fat to support healing.

Within just a few weeks, his wound fully healed, and he’s now back to doing what he loves! Watch the video to hear his journey in his own words.
