Proud moment at Opelousas General! 🎓
Six students recently completed Southwest Louisiana Area Health Education Center two-week AHEC of a Summer Program at Opelousas General, earning ½ high school credit while gaining valuable firsthand experience in healthcare.
Throughout the program, Rebecca Hollier, HR Supervisor, coordinated departmental rotations that allowed students to gain exposure to Laboratory, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Respiratory Therapy, Med-Surg, PCU, Women's Services, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Rural Health, Guest Relations, Information Technology, Food Services, Environmental Services, and Materials Management. Along the way, they explored a variety of healthcare career paths, developed new skills, and learned directly from our medical and clinical teams.
Please join us in congratulating our 2026 AHEC of a Summer graduates: Alejandro Castaneda, Kennadi Cornelius, Araiya Cox, Juliana Firmin, Olivia Marks, Shelby Suire.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brian Adams (Pediatrician), Derrick Armand (Medical Imaging Manager), Tenecia Gobert (LPN Quality Nurse), Mia Hundley (OGHS Pharmacist), Shannon Richard (RN Quality Nurse), Kellie Richard & Hali Wagley (OGHS Education Staff Developers), and Dr. Kerry Thibodeaux (The Wound Treatment Center) for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise with our students.
