For all the moms who feel like a failure when it comes to working out…
It’s time to break up with your idea of a ā€œgood workout.ā€

No offense - that plan served you well in a particular season. I’m sure you once were very consistent. It may have led to some great gains. It perhaps made you feel really good.

But you are in a new season, which calls for a new plan.
Your season calls for flexibility.
Your season calls for grace.
Your season calls for different priorities.

It’s hard to get up early when you’re up during the night with a baby or toddler. It’s impossible to decide during nap time whether you should work out, clean the house, or take a nap yourself.

There is no shame in not being able to work out how you used to. There is NO shame in prioritizing your kids, your home, or even sleep over a long, hard workout.

And this is where many of us throw in the towel and fall for the all-or-none mentality. If it can’t be what it used to be, then there’s no point. Your season of life has shifted, but your idea of what constitutes a good workout has not.

But there IS another alternative - one where SOMETHING is better than nothing, and small acts of consistency still build up to create change over time.

You don’t have to be all or none. You don’t have to quit in this season totally. But you DO need to shift what you think your workout should look like, and find a new flexible plan that fits in the random pockets of mom life and offers you grace for the days that need it.

3 quick tips for a better labor and delivery experience (Part 2)

One of the biggest patterns I’ve noticed after working with hundreds of women is that unnecessary interventions often lead to additional interventions.

One example? Inductions performed before your baby is ready to come.

Of course, there are absolutely situations where induction may be necessary, and I’m incredibly grateful for the physicians and nurses who care for women during pregnancy and birth.

But induction because your Dr is going to be gone is not a reason for induction.

Induction because you’re uncomfortable and ā€œsick of itā€ is not a reason for induction.

Induction because it’s convenient to schedule childcare or date of birth is not a reason for induction.

I’ve seen too many women pressured into any induction for no major reason, or fear-mongering used to push women into induction, which has led to a difficult childbirth, unwanted interventions, and a C-section that could have potentially been avoided.

You deserve to understand your options so you can make informed decisions that align with your values and your circumstances.

Remember: advocating for yourself doesn’t mean you’re being difficult. You’re not just a patient; you’re a customer. Advocating for yourself means you’re being an active participant in your care.

One of the greatest gifts we can give our daughters is our own freedom.

If we want them to grow up believing their bodies are good, worthy of care, and created with purpose, they’ll learn far more from watching us than from listening to us.

They’ll notice whether we speak kindly about ourselves.
Whether we move our bodies from joy or shame.
Whether we believe our worth is found in our appearance or in Christ.

This has been a huge part of my own story. God has been so faithful to gently replace the lies I believed with His truth, and that freedom has changed the way I see my body, movement, and my identity.

My prayer is that we would raise a generation of women who know they are deeply loved, whose value isn’t found in the mirror, and who see their bodies as a good gift from a good Father.

It starts with usšŸ¤

A few years ago, I put together a PDF full of veres of TRUTH for myself and my daughters. I’d be happy to send it your way, just drop an emoji below!

Spent the week visiting gorgeous Glacier.
Breathtaking beauty. šŸ”ļø

We had a lot of windshield time on this trip with a 17 hr drive out and plenty of hours traveling to, from, and in the park. One of my favorite things about this trip was the questions my kids asked and conversations we got to have. Their ages span 8-17 but we can now have good conversations all together, and while there was still plenty of sibling arguing 🤪 I recognized that I’m really enjoying the people they’re becoming.

I say this all the time as I work with patients who have babies and toddlers - I’ll always miss my babies, but each stage brings new goodness too. Each stage has good and hard things. But life is way more enjoyable when we look for the good. 🩷

Iceberg lake.

Lake McDonald - enjoyed paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing here.

Found some beautiful waterfalls on McDonald Creek Trail

Hiking buddies 🩷 I worried about her keeping up but she did awesome. šŸ‘

Long hike to this lake but totally worth it - the color is unreal.

Why use your hands to cool off when you could just dunk your head right in? šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Birthday boy accidentally wore slides to hike today. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø didn’t realize it until we got there and we were staying almost an hour away, so he had to just deal. šŸ˜… thankfully he’s easy going and hiked 6 miles with a smile on his face.

Love these sisters 🩷

Gorgeous light

Not the best pic but we came up close and personal with a black bear! Literally 10 feet from us. Thankfully it was just minding its own business - crossed our path and moved on. 😬

Some of the best parts about being in my 40s:

šŸ’“I’ve become comfortable with my body. I don’t analyze it to death or shame it. I’m thankful for all it does for me each day. I can get out of bed, play with my kids, sit at their ball games, serve my patients, and work out. It’s a good body; I refuse to shame it for aging or changing. It’s not what it used to be, yet I appreciate it much more.

šŸ’“I’ve known true friendship. Friendships have morphed & changed over the years, but b/c I’m secure in my own identity, I’m secure in the relationships I have. I don’t expect people to fill me up - God does that. I know the people that will love & support me/my family. I know who will actually pray for us & follow up to see how we’re doing.

šŸ’“ I’m secure in who God made me to be. I’m ok with Him pushing me outside my comfort zone, but I also know the strengths He’s given me. I no longer need to be the best, and perfection is no longer the goal. My job is to serve & love people well. As long as God is leading me, I know He’ll help me do that to the best of my ability, whether in my clinic, church, with my kids, etc. If He calls me to quit my job tomorrow, I know He’s going to use me somewhere else, & I can be content with that. Success does not define me.

šŸ’“Marriage is comfortable & overall easy. I’m not saying we don’t have hard days, but we’ve learned to communicate & what’s not worth making a big deal over. We respect each other, encourage each other’s gifts, & are both willing to make sacrifices for the other person’s good. There will always be hard days & times, but I feel confident we’ll walk through them together.

šŸ’“I get to see my kids growing into the people they’re becoming. I can have real & hard conversations with them. I get to cheer them on, help grow the gifts they’ve been given, & encourage them as they grow into the people God has called them to be. Every stage of parenting is hard, but every stage is also so good. I love this stage a lot.

Aging is a gift. Let’s not listen to the nonsense that we shouldn’t look like we’re aging. I’ll take my 40s over my 20s any day, wrinkles & all! šŸ˜‰

The right provider can completely change your birth experience.

As a pelvic health physical therapist, I’ve worked with hundreds of women through pregnancy and postpartum, and one thing I’ve learned is this: who you choose to care for you during pregnancy matters.

Here are 3 quick tips I share with my patients to help prepare for labor and delivery:
+ Choose your provider wisely. Every provider has a different philosophy and practice style, and those differences can shape your birth experience.
+ Ask questions. Your prenatal appointments are your opportunity to understand your options and make informed decisions.
+ Remember - you have a choice. You’re not ā€œstuck.ā€ If your provider isn’t the right fit for you, it’s okay to switch. You deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your pregnancy.

The goal isn’t to find a ā€œperfectā€ provider; it’s to find one whose approach aligns with your values and helps you feel confident heading into birth.

Want to feel even more prepared for labor and delivery? Comment ā€œCHECKLISTā€ and I’ll send you my FREE Labor & Delivery Checklist, filled with practical tips to help you prepare for birth with confidence.

A gentle reminder for every postpartum mama:
Your journey was never meant to look like anyone else’s.

Your body has carried, delivered, and continues to care for your baby. That deserves gratitude, not comparison.

Healing isn’t linear, and there is no ā€œrightā€ timeline. Every pregnancy, birth, baby, and season of motherhood is different & your recovery will be too.

Instead of chasing the idea of ā€œbouncing back,ā€ let’s pursue something better: extending ourselves grace, caring for the bodies God has given us, and trusting His timing for our healing.

If you need one reminder today, let it be this:
Take off the timeline. Don’t weigh and measure too much. Let your body heal in its time. Strengthen in its time.

Take a breath, enjoy all the firsts. And trust God with your postpartum journey and his timeline for your unique body!

What is one thing you’re thankful your body has done for you? I’d love to hear in the comments. šŸ’›
