Every time I open Instagram there's another reel of someone filming 3 seconds of random footage — coffee cup, laptop screen, walking shot — and slapping some text over it. "How I make $10k/month." "Do this one thing."

It's everywhere because it's easy. Anyone can do it in five minutes. And that's exactly why it doesn't work anymore. When everyone's doing the same three-second trick, none of it stands out. It's just noise.

What actually gets people to stop scrolling is different. It's showing your face. Saying what you actually know, not a script you copied from someone else's script. It's the work you put in before you ever hit record — the thinking, the practice, the getting-it-wrong in private first.

That's a harder path. It should be. Nobody builds something real by doing what's easiest. You have to become a slightly different version of yourself to do this well — more direct, more visible, more okay with being seen before you feel ready.

So many people selling "how to grow online" are selling you a formula. Follow these steps, use this hook, post at this time. And formulas work, for a while. But formulas also make you invisible, because everyone following the same formula looks the same.

Do the version of this that's actually you. Say the thing you'd say if no one was watching. Fail in public sometimes — that's part of it, not a sign you're doing it wrong. Keep showing up anyway.

Nervous doesn't have to look nervous. 😮‍💨

Before a job interview, a tough conversation with your manager, or asking for that raise — your body doesn't know the difference between anxious and excited. Same racing heart. Same adrenaline. Your brain just picks the label.

So pick a better one.

3 quick tips to look calm even when you're not:

🔹 Say "I'm excited" out loud (yes, really) — Harvard research found this simple reframe outperforms "just calm down" before high-pressure moments

🔹 Shake it out for 10 seconds before you walk in — movement burns off the nervous energy faster than sitting still does

🔹 Slow your exhale — a longer exhale than inhale tells your nervous system it's safe

You don't have to feel confident to look confident. You just have to know the trick.

The advice at work is always the same.
Want to make more? "Go back to school." Want to move up? "Get another certification."
More debt. More years. More exhaustion. For a raise that might not even show up. 🙃
I'm not saying school is never the answer. I'm saying it's the ONLY answer anyone gives us — and it's wrong more often than people admit.

There's another path, and it's these 6:
Know what you want (a number and a date, not a vibe).
Believe it's available to you.
Learn the skill that actually pays.
Write the steps down.
Decide — fast.
Keep going after the first no.
Not one of those requires a classroom, a loan, or your manager's permission.
Most people are stuck on #1 and don't know it. Still saying "I just want to be comfortable" instead of naming a number.
So name it. Today. 📌
