Instead of ED (eating disorder recovery)

Instead of ED (eating disorder recovery) a pro-recovery place for those affected by eating disorders or disordered eating. This page was created out of need. That's what this page is for.

Sometimes when wanting to engage in ED behavior it's hard to think of what to do instead. This is a group endeavor that further demonstrates that we never have to do this alone. I also have a FB account that covers many other areas of ED recovery. You can send me a friend request at "ANAD Lori Licker"

This is such a good question. What does a win look like for you?

This is a memory from 13 years ago. (It isn't actually framed.) The sentiment is still true and fresh though. It's also close to the anniversary of a friend of mine who lost the battle. May there be no more losses one day.
RIP Pam and the thousands of others who've passed because of this.

I admit that when I got home from the hospital last week, I was curious as to how much weight I'd gained. In case you missed it, this hospitalization was unrelated to Ed. I've been recovered for 20+ years.
What i was doing was gathering data for my doctor because my clothes were really tight and i had really bad cellulitis (among other things). The number honestly shocked me. I share all of this so you see the process of what happened next & to give hope.
I wore larger clothes so I was more comfortable. I continued to eat through the pain & nausea. I know that my prior time with Ed would have been different.
It's been over a week now & I'm seeing my doctor soon. So I jumped on the scale. I'm already back to where i was before. The swelling & edema is also improving. With a walker, I'm starting to walk. My body is starting to heal!
May my share encourage others out there with extra struggles too. Nourish to heal

Checking in with all of you. For those who don't know, I'm recovering from cat bites that spiraled into major infection, seizures, massive EDS flare and more. I had a week in the hospital & a week in rehab hospital. I'm recovering now with home health.
Being transparent, I've had to work hard to eat through pain, nausea and no appetite. I've got the tools and determination to do it because i know that it will help me heal. To be honest, I also don't need more problems.
I know some of you are in similar places with fighting cancer, knee replacements and more. You've got this. We've got this. Sending care your way. Let me know what helps you

Earlier today i thought of all of you. I had home health coming and i needed to eat to make the most of PT. It was difficult though since I'm still in pain & nauseous. The causes are different this time but we can still make it through. -lori

I couldn't have said it better. What was your favorite part? There were so many for me

Update: I've been discharged from the hospital and now the rehab hospital and am home getting home healthcare. There's still a lot of pain, I'm getting off of major painkillers & I'm walking a bit on my own. I'm having to live out again forcing myself to eat even in pain & nauseous. I know so many of you relate & are going through your own challenges. What helps you?

Hello friends! It's so good to talk to you since this ordeal began almost 2 weeks ago. The humor of this shirt actually started before that with my cousin who gave me this tshirt when I found out I had a 20% chance to survive leukemia in 2017. Then it reappeared in my suitcase 2 weeks ago.i had just been admitted to the hospital because my kitten Ollie bit me after getting caught in the recliner. The bites got seriously infected and long story short, either my MS or EDS flared and I couldn't even stand. I got transferred to a rehab hospital and once again the shirt reappeared. The staff were laughing and so was i. I actually think it was my sense of humor that brought me through so much, including my long relationship with Ed. Who else copes in a similar way? If not, what other ways do you have to help cope?
