💔 Another young life lost too soon.

Jamaree, a 17-year-old high school senior and two-sport athlete who played football and baseball at Danville High School in Kentucky, died suddenly on October 9. An autopsy revealed an enlarged heart, although the official cause of death remains under investigation.

His story underscores the importance of heart screenings for early detection.

❤️ His son's heart stopped. He knew what to do.

At 14, Dominic suffered sudden cardiac arrest while traveling home from a workout with his father, who immediately began CPR.

Emergency responders used an AED to shock Dominic’s heart four times. He later received an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD).

Today, Dominic is living and thriving! ❤️

His story is a powerful reminder that recognizing sudden cardiac arrest and responding immediately can help save a life.

❤️ Your child's school, sports program or other youth-serving organization may have an automated external defibrillator (AED), but would someone be able to find it, reach it, and use it quickly during an emergency?

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞:
• An AED is accessible whenever children are present.
• During sports games and practices, an AED is readily available on the sidelines.
• AEDs are regularly inspected and maintained.
• Staff, coaches and volunteers know where AEDs are located and how to use them.

Sudden cardiac arrest doesn't wait for someone to find a key, unlock a door, or figure out what to do.

• Sudden collapse or finding someone unresponsive
• Not breathing normally, including gasping
• Seizure-like movements, shaking, or twitching
• Eyes open with a fixed gaze or rolled back
