Having practiced mindfulness for over 10 years to manage his persistent back

pain, Shrey is a strong advocate for mindfulness meditation for both physical and mental well-being. As a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Facilitator (MBCPM™), he has integrated the principles of mindfulness meditation to teach patients and professionals on how they can better cope with chronic stress, pain, and burnout. As founder of Mind Body Horizons, Shrey has been invited to deliver webinars, talks and keynotes that have garnered much praise and attention from an international audience of rehabilitation professionals. As a passionate clinician who is well-versed with neuroscience and evidence-based practice, Shrey’s mission is to inspire patients and professionals to incorporate mind-body medicine in their day to day lives.

🙏 Had the pleasure of running this interactive mindfulness workshop at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College last night!

🔹 I was joined by Dr. Kirstie Griffiths and Dr. Sayyed Mohsen Fatemi who are both highly influential figures in the Mind Body Medicine world!

📍 One key message from yesterday's session 👇

💡Mind Body interventions (including Mindfulness, Meditation, Yoga, etc.) are here to stay, and the time is NOW to learn these and integrate them into our personal and clinical lives!

Had to get on this trend to dispel this myth 😂❌

🔹 The "increase your core strength to prevent back pain" myth is just as prevalent and outdated as the "never let your knees pass your toes" myth.

🔹 Modern science and research shows us that there is minimal to no correlation between someone's core strength and their level of pain, or their likelihood of pain/injury

📍Not saying that core strength is not important (it's a good idea to include it in any exercise program), BUT, core strength is NOT as important in reducing back pain as we once thought

🧘‍♂️ Feeling excited to have co-presented on for Pain Management to over 250 students at the Interfaculty Pain Curriculum at the of Toronto! ⁣

📍 I had the absolute pleasure to present with my mentor Dr. Jackie Gardner-Nix as well as my good friend, Sarah Sheffe. ⁣

🔹 We were joined by students from various disciplines including Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Social Work as well Dentistry.⁣


📍 It seems that the interest in mindfulness is growing year by year, and we are seeing many more students resonate with this beautiful practice! It is truly exciting! ⁣

💡 A key objective of our presentation this year was to show students that mindfulness not only improves clinical outcomes (which has been well established by literature), but it also helps us (the providers) build better relationships with our patients, while helping us become more compassionate! 🙏⁣

🧠 A little Wednesday humor 😂

Mindfulness is like doing a bicep curl for the mind. 💪

🔷 It may feel uncomfortable at first but the more you practice it, the stronger and fitter the muscles of your brain will become. Definitely feels like a brain workout! 🤯

🔷 Similar to practicing a sport or learning to play an instrument, mindfulness needs to be practiced daily and frequently for it's benefits to be seen (I will do a post on this in the future) 🎷🎸🎾

🔷 With regular mindfulness practice: The brain literally changes and evolves to become calmer, less reactive, and more resilient to life’s stresses.
