Unkindness is unacceptable. You have no idea what we are dealing with, and being unkind is absolutely unhelpful.
We are asking for help. Being unkind, unsupportive, and cruel is absolutely antithetical to helping.

Kat's Dad and I have decided we need to let the pigs go to another home. This has been a painful and necessary decision. Pudding and Orange need to stay together. Bacon and StellaGigi can go separately. If you have a good rescue suggestion (or would like to take any of them yourself), let me know.

Today, just after 8pm, the hospital killed Kat because they wanted the bed for someone who could live (that is how they said it - they had pronounced her dead days before, becausethe system bemieves the lie about brain death). Anthony Gestone is in almost exactly the same position now. The main difference is that he is showing more pronounced signs of life. And, the hospital is still going to kill him if he does not wake or prove himself alive in some more overt/obvious way(s). I do not know how to link yall to the story.Also, they refuse to do some basic procedures that could help him. It is reprehensible, no two ways about it. Cheryl Samons has been sharing his story. Please join me in prayer for this guy. They will kill him today otherwise. Join me in sending prayers, good vibes, hope.... whatever works for you.... send it to him. Help him like you helped Kat and us. Please. It can only help. Even if we don't see the outcome we want.

Today is Kat's birthday.

Her favorite number is 13.

So, at 1:13pm today, my three youngest children and I will sing happy birthday to her, blow out her number candles (19), and eat the cake.

1:13 because on the 24-hour clock, that's 13 twice. And 13 is her favorite number.

I apologize for disappearing. I have been struggling in various ways and will continue to take time to do my best to heal..

Hey yall, Ria here, and today I’m trying something new and starting a !

Kat was very passionate about cooking, especially in the last few years before her passing. Cooking, eating, she loved it all. The only thing she disliked was baking… no matter how many recipes she tried she had the hardest time making her baked goods turn out right.

So in honor of her love of all things food, every Friday I’ll share something that I’ve been loving to cook lately, and if you want to share your latest favorite in the comments, I’d love to see it! I cook almost every day so love to get new inspiration for fun dinners.

The food of the day today is a salad topped with eggs, croutons, avocado, bacon bits, and blackened Cajun salmon, it’s my current food hyper fixation of late.

Today’s fact is a long but interesting one:

Meishans were imported specifically to be studied for their hyper-productivity. By their third farrowing, Meishan pig litter size is typically 14-16 piglets and occasionally 20 or more. A sow in the USDA research herd once farrowed 28. In addition to their large litters, they also enter puberty at approximately 90 days, significantly faster than most domestic hog breeds. Sows typically have 16-18 teats, and sometimes over 20, allowing them to easily raise large litters of piglets. They are excellent mothers and, in study herds, had higher weaning-to-farrowing ratios than conventional breeds. Meishan piglets are born with more highly developed digestive systems than conventional swine. This is believed to make the piglets more resistant to piglet digestive diseases allowing for earlier weaning.
