PARKINSON’S & MOVEMENT: COULD TAI CHI HELP?

We’ve been talking about Tai Chi for a while, and we finally found the right person to introduce it to our Parkinson’s community!

We are excited to welcome Sifu Adam Williss owner of The Dragon Institute - Palm Coast Martial Arts. to share how Tai Chi can be adapted to meet the needs and abilities of those living with Parkinson’s.

Tai chi is good for people with Parkinson's disease because its slow, flowing movements help improve balance, walking ability, and motor control.

And of course we have our Spectacular Coach Pamela Jansen Hull kicking us off with some fun activities.

Come join us : Wednesday September 16th at the Palm Coast Community Center!

*** This meeting is exclusively for individuals with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, and loved ones.***

Any and all movement is great for you. Find which works best for you!

Tai Chi has been part of the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson’s Wellness since opening, and as interest continues to grow, so does the opportunity to offer more classes.

With the addition of the new Robert A. Loepp Sr. Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, the Center now has more space to expand Tai Chi programming and meet the increasing demand from Members.

Through slow, intentional movement, Tai Chi can help support balance, coordination, weight shifting, and control that carry into everyday movement.

This is Great information and worth getting one for you or your loved one if memory loss or alzheimer’s is a possibility.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s office offers the SAFE TRAK Program, a tracking bracelet designed to help quickly locate individuals who may wander due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, traumatic brain, injury, stroke, or other conditions. The faster law enforcement is notified, the faster they can begin a search and recovery.

Families receive training on the equipment, and the sheriffs office may even provide assistance for those who cannot afford the program.

This is an incredible resource for our community and a valuable tool that can provide peace of mind for caregivers.

Ever wonder what we do at some of our meetings?

You need to keep moving!! Do it having fun!

💃🕺 What an AMAZING and energizing meeting! 💙🌷

A huge thank you to Jennifer Giblin, founder of Dancimus™ Adaptive Dance, and Joe Mounts, founder of JJ's Dance Fusion, for coming and sharing your passion for dance with us!

You didn’t just talk about the benefits of movement you got everyone in the room UP and MOVING! 💃🕺 And yes… we even had a CONGA LINE! 🎶😂

Music and movement are SO important for both our mental and physical well-being.

The smiles, laughter, energy, and connections were a wonderful reminder of just how powerful music and dance can be.

Thank you for creating a fun, welcoming experience for everyone. We are so excited about the possibilities ahead and look forward to continued collaboration with Jennifer and Joe to bring more opportunities like this to our Parkinson’s community.

We had a GREAT time! ❤️🎶

Sorry unfortunately the weather isn’t looking good for tonight so the event has been canceled. We will let you know when there is a new date.

Due to the inclement weather forecast and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our attendees, vendors, performers, and staff, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this evening’s Beats & Eats event.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate the unpredictable weather conditions affecting our area.

Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and enthusiasm for Beats & Eats. We look forward to welcoming you back soon for an evening of great food, music, and community.
