There are so many perks to hiring a doula who already has a connection with your midwife.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Kelly Birthright Midwifery - Kelly Burnett LM, CPM and her assistant Stacy Stacy Wiebe for several births, and at this point, we work together like a well-oiled machine. There’s something really special about already knowing and trusting the person you’re working alongside when supporting a family.

It’s truly an honor that our work has not only brought us together professionally, but has also allowed us to become such good friends. I’m always cheering her on, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside her and support the families we serve together. 🤍

This sweet client has a history of long labors, so when she called me saying it was time, we knew it was time to settle in for the ride. 🤍

What a glorious day I got to spend with this mama as we waited to welcome her third little one.

We laughed over the rebozo, walked in the rain, talked about raising kiddos, and contemplated what was for lunch. She helped set up her own birth pool (🤦‍♀️), her husband made funny jokes, and we continued to giggle in between contractions.

As the time got closer, the room shifted. Encouraging words, prayers, soft music, physical support, and lots of cheering her on filled the space.

The absolute grace she carried in her birthing space was amazing. She moved through each moment with such strength and calm, like she had been preparing her whole life for this moment.

And what an honor it was to be there beside her on the journey.

One of the things I offer my clients are pictures. I’m by no means a photographer, but I know how special those first moments are, so I try to capture what I can in between the work I’m there to do.

This is your reminder that dilation is not a predictor of when baby will be born.

Baby dropping is also not a predictor of when baby will be born.

Need proof?

This is me at 37+ 5 weeks pregnant with my third.

The very next day, early labor would begin. My midwife came to check me that evening, and I was “maybe a 2, and it’s not time yet.”

Jokes on us, because he was born right at 38 weeks to everyone’s surprise!

So don’t be discouraged when you don’t feel like you’re “progressing.”

Baby will come when baby is ready. I promise. 🤍
