Hi Mom's! This is Emily 👋🏼 Therapist + retreat host + professional over-thinker of women’s issues. I wanted to remind you of The Unbroken Collective's May retreat, The Unbroken Woman: Mothered.

Mothered was born out of necessity from The Unbroken Woman because the theme of mothering shows up everywhere: how we were mothered, how we mother others, and why we’re so bad at mothering ourselves without guilt.

But wait, there's more! It’s not just for moms. It’s for anyone who has a mother and is dealing with… a lot. You know. That stuff. 😂

You’re going to like what we’re doing here, so you should come! It’s thoughtful, structured, and genuinely impactful. Plus, it’s also pretty damn luxurious because I’m a Ta**us and I refuse to create an experience that's anything less than extraordinary. (Think chef-prepared meals, yoga, a beautiful space, and the kind of support that actually feels like support.)

Hi friends, I’m Emily Swearingen, and I’m not your average therapist.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, retreat facilitator, chaos coordinator (aka mom to a two-year-old), wife to a combat veteran, proud owner of three unruly dogs and two verrrrrrry judgmental cows, and a woman who knows firsthand that healing doesn’t happen on accident. It happens on purpose. With intention, community (maybe a few carbs 😅).

After years of working in hospitals, public mental health, and one-on-one private practice, I realized that so many women needed something more. Women need more space. More connection with others. More than fifty minutes once a week. So I created The Unbroken Woman retreat—a therapeutic experience that blends the soul work of clinical practice with the soul food of sisterhood.

This October, I’m inviting you to join me in Broken Bow, Oklahoma for a weekend that’s not about pretending everything is fine. It’s about sitting with what’s not fine and finally rewriting the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you’re worth. Let me be SUPER clear: this isn’t a fluffy girls’ weekend away.

It’s not about eating granola, trauma-dumping, and “just be positive” energy. It’s a deep reset for your brain; you'll experience a clinically informed, connection-centered experience rooted in truth, laughter, healing... Plus high-quality snacks (because we are not skipping meals while we’re out here processing our deepest feelings).

Here’s what you’ll experience if you join me:
🧠 Provider-led sessions with me - yes, real therapy-informed work. We’ll tackle cognitive distortions, practice rewiring negative thoughts, create new neural-connections, and dig deep into your inner narrative. It’s like months of therapy, only you get to do it in cozy socks and not under fluorescent lights.

🍽 Chef-prepared meals and snacks that nourish more than your body (that's right, every meal is included, sis).

👯‍♀️ Pajama parties, fireside chats, coffee with a therapist (me again), and meaningful moments with women who are just as tired of pretending as you are.

🛏 Beautiful accommodations that make rest feel sacred, not indulgent.

And if you want to personalize your experience? You can add on:
🍳 Cooking class with Chef Phil
📸 Self-Love Photoshoot
💆‍♀️ Massage with Jamie Pollard of Vida Lux Salon

Still unsure? Let me introduce you to some past attendees who said it best:

“What a unique experience! Great food and group of people… There were some tears and some laughter. Good first step into a therapy type setting as it didn’t get so deep you couldn’t continue. Lots of down time for connecting with others. Emily and Nicole were great hosts and had a true intention for wanting us to feel welcome and taken care of.”

“This retreat was a wonderful gift to myself! I didn’t know anyone before I went, but I left feeling like I’ve gained a whole new tribe of wonderful women… The only thing that would’ve made it better is if it were longer—which is why I signed up for the full Unbroken Woman retreat in October!”

“I am truly in awe of my experience. It was luxurious, transformative, and all-around wonderful. If you’re looking for a weekend of deep therapeutic breakthroughs, cozy vibes, incredible food, and amazing connection, this is it.”

If your heart’s been whispering that you need a reset… listen. This is your invitation to come home to yourself. Come as you are. Leave as more of who you were always meant to be. 💜

I’m going to say this as plainly, and lovingly, as possible: if the word “mother” sparks love, grief, guilt, resentment, pressure, tenderness, or the sudden impulse to say “it’s fine” when it is absolutely not fine… Then congratulations! You are exactly who The Unbroken Woman: Mothered is for. 😅

But it’s important to know that this retreat isn’t just for moms. It’s for anyone who has a mother and is still lugging around an invisible emotional carry-on labeled “how I learned to be cared for, how I care for others, and why I’m so bad at caring for myself without feeling like an absolute asshole”.

I created Mothered because I kept watching women (including myself) perform emotional gymnastics in the name of being capable, nurturing, and “good,” while quietly wondering why rest feels so unbelievably wrong and self-compassion feels suspiciously like self-sabotage.

Spoiler: it’s not a personal failure. It’s a learned pattern. And it’s learned from a very early age.

This is not a spa weekend with the girlies. It’s not a trauma-dump free-for-all. It’s a small, guided, intentionally structured space to unpack the theme of mothering (past, present, and internal) without spiraling, oversharing, or pretending it hasn’t shaped you.

Different ages. Different stories. Same “why am I like this?” vibes, just expressed with varying levels of politeness. 😂

If you’ve been lurking, saving posts, or feeling personally attacked in the most respectful way… Here’s your sign, sis.

Bring your mom stuff. I’ll handle it with care, intelligence, and just enough humor to keep it from feeling like emotional whiplash. Trust me on this one.

Listen up, girlies! If you’ve been hunting for a Christmas gift that won’t collect dust, disappoint, or quietly judge you from a drawer, allow me offer a far better alternative: give yourself (or a woman you love, ie: sister, mom, auntie, bestie) the kind of experience that actually rearranges something internally, instead of just rearranging closet space.

The Unbroken Woman: Mothered is a four-day, clinically informed retreat designed for women who are finally ready to deal with the emotional inheritance they’ve been lugging around. Your trauma isn’t a family heirloom, ma’am, you don’t need to keep it if you don’t like it. We’ll be examining the ways we were mothered (or not mothered) and how those early patterns still run the internal monologue that keeps so many of us over-functioning, overthinking, and chronically “fine.”

Don’t get me wrong though, this isn’t a fluffy weekend away with the girlies where y’all trauma-dump and sing “Kumbaya”; it’s structured, grounded therapeutic work wrapped in good food (by our beloved Chinnu Thomas), restorative yoga, and a deeply therapeutic environment where you don’t have to pretend you’re okay just to keep the peace. It’s the gift that says, “I want you to feel like yourself again”, which is far more meaningful than another crappy robe or journal that will never be written in.

Dates are May 6-9, 2026. Screening is now open. Treat yourself, treat your sister, treat your bestie. Don’t be the girl who’s been holding it all together with a hair tie and a prayer - come hang with us, let us love you, and learn a thing or two while you’re at it. And if you’re still not convinced, click the link and check out the reviews past participants have left… Let them convince you.

📣Calling all moms — if you’ve been running on empty and feeling like you’ve lost little pieces of yourself along the way, read this:

The Unbroken Woman’s “Mothered” Retreat is coming May 2026 to Fort Worth, TX (right before Mother’s Day!), and it was created for the moms who do it all… but rarely get poured into.

This 3-night retreat is a space to breathe, reconnect, and remember the you beneath the roles. It’s a blend of restorative rest, meaningful connection, and guided therapeutic work that goes deeper than a typical girls’ weekend.

Because of the depth of this experience, all participants complete a brief screening process — not to exclude, but to ensure readiness and support for everyone attending.
✨ Screening & early interest are now open!
If something in you whispered “I need this”… trust it.

Honored to support this alongside Emily Swearingen LCSW PLLC, founder of The Unbroken Collective — the heart behind this life-changing work.

Our incredible photographer, Morgan Made This, will be sharing the stories of some of the women from this year’s retreat. Her talent is incredible, and her gift for storytelling through photography is unmatched. We are so thankful to have her on our team. 🙏

HI, IT’S ME.
Sorry not sorry for this long post. I was a little (a lot) quiet throughout the month of October. But it’s because I was holding space for something unforgettable — The Unbroken Woman retreat.

This isn’t a typical “self-care wee.”
It’s not eating granola and screaming in the woods.
It’s a deep dive into the stories we’ve been told, the doubts we carry, and the truths we often bury beneath layers of self-criticism.

Being part of this space reminded me how powerful it is to witness women stepping fully into growth, connection, and self-discovery.

Led by Emily Swearingen, LCSW, the retreat blends therapy, clinical interventions, and practical tools to help women reshape the way they think about themselves.

But what makes it unforgettable isn’t just the work — it’s the energy, the laughter, the honesty, and the way women hold space for each other while finding their own light.

The best part is how it balances healing with heart, and growth with joy.
Watching women reclaim their voices, embrace their strength, and celebrate themselves in ways they hadn’t allowed before is truly magical.

Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing individual posts highlighting some of these incredible women and their journeys — their courage, their growth, and the light they bring into the world.

The Unbroken Woman’s retreat is intentionally small, clinically informed, and emotionally layered. Because the work we do together is immersive and psychologically complex, all participants complete a brief screening process prior to enrollment. This isn’t a barrier to entry: it’s an ethical safeguard. The screening process ensures that every woman who joins us is both stable and resourced enough to engage deeply in the experience without feeling dysregulated or overexposed.

The screening includes a short written application and, when indicated, a brief consultation with me as a licensed clinician. This allows us to assess readiness, identify potential supports, and create a group dynamic rooted in safety, cohesion, and mutual respect. The goal is not to gatekeep healing but to protect its integrity.

Each cohort is composed with intention, with women who are ready to move beyond insight into integration. The week invites rigorous self-exploration, relational repair, and embodied restoration. It’s equal parts science and soul: neuroscience meets narrative, cognitive restructuring meets compassion. And some laughter sprinkled in for spice.

If you sense that this season of your life is calling for something more immersive, I invite you to click the link below and consider spending the week with us. Let’s find out together if this is the moment to do the kind of work that shifts your internal landscape for good. 🩷
