Small update for everyone. Part of the Fundraising we did when raising money for Lincolns Service Dog was that some of the money was going to long-term care (Food, Grooming, Vet) and everything we needed in order to get the house ready for the dog. One of the big items was to enclose our back yard by crossing our driveway with a gate. One of the requirements for any off leash time is that the dog must be fully contained, be that in the house, or in a fully fenced in year. For the dogs wellbeing and heath, we are not allowed to simply let it out on a teacher/chain.

Today we had out driveway gate installed. This is probably the first real concrete out put of the enormous generosity we received from everyone for this dog. We cannot thank everyone enough.

Dog name and photo reveal is coming to us later this month so be on the lookout, and we will have it home at the end of September. Thanks again!

Hello hello hello! We come bearing excellent news! The Cleary family will be traveling to Xenia Ohio September 16th through 25th as we training in person with Lincoln’s Service dog as part of the “Aquamarine 2026 Class”. We will be receiving information regarding the exact match along with photos of his dog on August 26th, so keep your eyes peeling for that!

As we get closer and closer to our estimated timeline, our anticipation has been steadily growing! The past few weeks have been filled with mailing shirts to Xenia for 4 Paws to do scent training. Every seizure Lincoln has, we have to send that shirt he was wearing down to 4 Paws and they use that to train the dog to Lincoln’s “seizure scent”.

We were told that there is a dog selected and we will be getting more information “in the next couple weeks” so stay tuned!

In celebration of National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (not really, more of a coincidence) we are happy to announce that as of 3PM today everything in terms of placement and paper work etc on our end has been fully finalized with 4 Paws! From this point, we are on a 6-9 month waiting period which places us exactly where they told us, September-December of 2026.

We have confirmed that the breed of dog will officially be a Golden Retriever or Lab as expected. The dog at this point will have completed its public training period and is now moving into Task-Specific training specifically for Lincoln.

Over the next few months, we will need to dress Lincoln in plain white cotton T-Shirts. After each seizure he has, we will need to remove, bag, and send to 4 Paws as the dog will utilize this specific scent as an association with seizures to provide us with a Bark Alert. This will be extremely in the middle of the night, when he has most of his seizures.

We are extremely excited to be moving closer to bringing our dog home and as always extremely thankful for everyone that has been a part of this journey. As we get closer I’m sure that more updates will become more frequent. After the dog is home this will likely become a Lincoln and dog photo landing place! Thank you all again!
