Think power is just about swinging harder? Let's look at the actual physics of it. 💥
Power = Work / Time
If you want to hit the ball with more power, you have two options: increase your "Work" or decrease your "Time."
1️⃣ Increasing Work (Improving Strength & Efficiency)
Increasing work doesn't mean aimlessly smashing hundreds of balls at the range until your back hurts. It means working efficiently. When you optimize your biomechanics and build functional strength, you groove better movement habits. This allows your body to safely apply more force into the ground and through the ball. Better habits + more strength = More Power.
2️⃣ Decreasing Time (Increasing Speed)
Decreasing the time it takes to move the club from the top of your swing through impact equals speed. But here is the catch: true, injury-free speed is only built through high-quality repetition. You cannot just swing out of your shoes. When you accumulate perfect reps, your nervous system begins to trust your mechanics. Only then do the internal "brakes" come off, allowing you to generate massive clubhead speed effectively and safely.
By increasing your strength and efficiency (Increased Work), and/or safely increasing your swing speed (Decreased Time), and you can generate Power that will completely change your game.
