Congratulations to Dr. Fatima Sheikh, Chief Medical Officer for FutureCare on being awarded the Steve Levson Medical Director of the year Award from MMDA (Mid-Atlantic chapter of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Association). This prestigious award was presented during the MMDA annual conference earlier this month. Under Dr. Sheikh’s leadership, FC significantly exceeds both state and national averages for 5 star ratings as a company (overall and with the three components - health inspections, staffing and quality measures).

A special thanks goes out to our Capital Region leaders, Karis Morgan and Varnie Antoine, as well as to Dr. Elon and Dr. Vinh for nominating Dr. Sheikh for this prestigious award!

This National Case Management Week, we’re celebrating the five dedicated nurse case managers who represent FutureCare across our organization. Their compassion, expertise, and collaboration help patients and residents navigate complex care needs and ensure they have the support they need throughout their care journeys. A heartfelt thank you to our Senior Case Manager, Mary Andrade, and our Case Managers, Donna Lumadue, Italy Sandgren, Jennifer Berringer, and Raymona St. Rose, for the meaningful difference they make every day. We’re grateful for all you do!

As we celebrate 40 years of FutureCare, I’ve been reflecting on just how far we’ve come. FutureCare opened its doors on October 1, 1986, and I told a group recently that my co-founders and I never dared to dream that this company could become what it is today: the recognized leader in post-acute care throughout Maryland, an innovator known for our technological prowess and compassionate care, and an employer of thousands of the greatest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with.

So, thank you, Team. Each of you plays an integral role in our critical mission. By being part of FutureCare, you are helping make the world a better place.
