Wishing a very Happy Birthday to our Vice President, Tabetha Shelnutt! 🥳❤️🌿

Everyone wants a friend’s energy like Tabetha’s in their lives! She’s that warm, long, meaningful hug that just calms your nervous system, and makes you feel like everything is going to be alright.

She’s on the road out of town saving lives in the trenches of peer support and recovery more than she’s home these days, which can make her Krewe roles tough to navigate at times, but with a strong passion in the purpose, and love for her Krewe and community, she makes it work to serve so balanced and faithfully.

Her leadership stays consistent, positive, encouraging, supportive, and her integrity holds our mission’s foundation in place. 💪⚖️

This woman is the definition of resilience. She rose from circumstances that could’ve destroyed her, but instead, she chose to build purpose from that pain. She’s walked through the trenches of addiction, and the dark realities of human trafficking… and now uses that lived experience to light the way for others seeking recovery, freedom, and healing from what once tried to destroy them. 💪

Tabetha doesn’t just lead, she lifts others. 💯 She’s an incredible mother, grandmama, and krewe momma. She sees and hears people. She celebrates the wins, holds space for the hard moments, and always keeps it real to everyone she loves. 🫶 She’s not afraid to challenge what needs to change, especially when it comes to fighting for rights to plant medicine access and injustices. 🌿

She’s a pillar in our community, our Krewe, and the legalization movement. And no matter where her travels may land her, we wouldn’t want to do any of this without her!!

Happy Birthday, Tabetha! 🎂🎈🎊
We are so grateful to walk alongside you, and appreciate all you do SO much! We love you!! 💚🫶🌿🔥🥳💨

🌿 TERPENE TUESDAY 🌿

Ever heard of a molecular delivery helper? 👀

Meet borneol, a terpene found in some cannab!s.

Scientists are studying borneol because it may help certain medicines and other compounds travel into places in the body they normally have a harder time reaching.

Think of it like a tiny delivery driver for molecules. 📦🌿

Science is wild.

🌿🔥 W33D FACT WEDNESDAY 🔥🌿

Ever wonder where the term “hotboxing” came from? 👀

Long before it became modern (C)annabis slang, enclosed sm0ke filled spaces were part of ancient practices.

Archaeologists have discovered roughly 2,500 year old wooden braziers in tombs in western China containing chemical evidence of (C)annabis with relatively high T H C levels.

Researchers believe the plants were burned inside enclosed spaces and the sm0ke inhaled during ritual ceremonies.

Basically, humans were gathering around (C)annabis sm0ke thousands of years before anyone called it a sesh. 😂🌿

🌿📚✨ W33D FACT WEDNESDAY ✨📚🌿

The Science They Didn’t Teach You...

Today is World Youth Skills Day, a day recognized by the United Nations to celebrate education, workforce development, and preparing the next generation for meaningful careers.

One of the fastest growing scientific industries in the world revolves around a plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years.

Today’s regulated cannab!s industry depends on highly trained adults working in fields such as plant genetics, horticulture, analytical chemistry, laboratory testing, environmental science, medicine, compliance, and research. Universities across the United States now offer certificate and degree programs dedicated to these specialized disciplines.

🌿 The future of cannab!s isn’t just being shaped in cultivation facilities. It’s being shaped in classrooms, laboratories, and research institutions by professionals committed to expanding our understanding of this remarkable plant.

Knowledge is one of the most powerful tools we have for breaking stigma, advancing science, and building a more informed future.

Education grows progress. We are proud to highlight education and professional career pathways for young adults in the legal cannab!s industry.

💬 Let's Talk About It Tuesday...

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Can you be a good parent and legally use medical cannab!s?

The answer should be based on facts, evidence, and parenting, not stereotypes.

Every parent deserves to be evaluated on their ability to safely care for their children; not on outdated assumptions or false narratives surrounding a physician-recommended plant medication.

⚖️ No parent should face discrimination because they are a qualified medical cannab!s patient. Unfortunately, stigma surrounding cannab!s continues to influence some family law cases, even when there is no factual evidence that a parent's lawful medical treatment has negatively impacted their child.

💚 This conversation isn't about whether someone personally supports cannabis.

It's about ensuring parents are judged by:
✅ Their actions
✅ Their character
✅ Their parenting abilities
✅ The health, safety, and well-being of their children

— Not by outdated stigma surrounding a legal medical treatment.

🌿 For many patients, medical cannab!s is simply another physician-recommended wellness option used to help manage conditions such as:
• Chronic pain
• PTSD
• Anxiety
• Cancer-related symptoms
• Epilepsy
• And many other qualifying medical conditions

Using a legal medication responsibly does not mean someone is impaired, or an unfit parent.

📜 Florida has considered legislation to address this issue, but it has not yet become law.

Most recently, SB 130 (2026) would have prohibited Florida courts from:

1️⃣ Denying or restricting custody, visitation, or parenting time solely because a parent is a qualified medical ma*****na patient.

2️⃣ Presuming neglect or child endangerment based only on a parent's lawful medical ma*****na status.

A very similar bill (SB 1496) was introduced in 2024, but also did not become law.

❌ SB 130 ultimately did not pass during the 2026 Florida Legislative Session because it did not advance through the committee process before the session ended.

🗣️The conversation isn't over.🗣️

We look forward to supporting renewed efforts in 2027 and continuing to advocate for legislation that protects both children and responsible, law-abiding parents. 🌟

❤️ We believe children deserve to be protected, and parents deserve to be treated fairly through evidence-based decisions, not false accusations and outdated stigmas.

If you agree that custody and parenting decisions should be based on evidence, rather than lawful medical cannab!s use, please consider signing this important petition, and sharing it with others.

🖊️ Together, our voices can help create meaningful change.

🎉 🥳ANOTHER BIRTHDAY SPOTLIGHT! 🥳🎉

Today we're celebrating one of our longtime Krewe family members Fred Barnett Sr. on this fine 7/10! 💚

Fred has been in and out part of the Krewe for the past four years, joining us whenever his health and crazy schedule have allowed. Through it all, he's remained a valued member of our krewe family. 🫶

Right now, Fred is facing one of the biggest challenges of his life as he awaits a life-changing kidney transplant. If you've had the privilege of knowing Fred, you know his strength, resilience, and the impact he's made on so many people from the Pensacola to New Orleans coasts!

A former professional football player and upcoming talent mentor, Fred has also spent years helping create memorable events, meaningful experiences, coaching athletes, and fostering lasting connections throughout our community. He's given so much to others, and today we'd love to show him a little of that same support in return. 🫶💚

🎂 Please join us in wishing Fred a very Happy Birthday! Drop him a birthday message in the comments, or even a DM, and help us remind him just how many people are cheering him on. 💪👏

If you're able, and feel moved to help, we'd also encourage you considering a contribution to Fred's GoFundMe as he continues his journey toward a kidney transplant and dialysis, and unable to work. Every share, every donation, and every word of encouragement makes a difference and could reach a potential donor.

Happy Birthday, Fred! We know it’s different this year, but we sure hope the rest of this year brings renewed strength, healing, and the gift of a successful transplant. 🙏🙏

We're all pulling for you! 💚🎉

🎉🚨 BIRTHDAY SPOTLIGHT 🚨🎉

Some people don’t just join a Krewe… they help build it from the ground up, pouring their heart into every step along the way.

Today we’re celebrating our founding Vice President, PR Chair, and one of the true hearts and souls behind everything you see from the Krewe de Kannabis… Melissa Nicholson 💚✨

From day one, Melissa has been there✨ helping dream this Krewe into existence, and lovingly shaping it into what it is today. She didn’t just join the journey… she helped create it.

Every parade, every event, every post, every detail that makes this Krewe feel like home carries a piece of her heart.

If you’ve ever smiled at something we’ve done, felt welcomed at one of our events, or been inspired by what we stand for, you’ve felt her touch.

She’s the calm in the chaos, the steady presence when things get overwhelming, and the one who quietly steps in to make sure everything comes together just right. She’s fixing costumes, lifting spirits, catching the little details no one else sees, and doing it all with that radiant smile, glittery lips, and a warmth that makes everyone around her feel seen and cared for. 🫶

Melissa has always believed deeply in this mission. Her passion for advocacy, especially for plant medicine and the recovery community 🍃comes from a place of genuine love and compassion. She leads with grace, stands with integrity, and gives her whole heart to everything she believes in.

Beyond the Krewe, she’s an incredible mom to four, a proud grandmother, and one of the most kind, loyal, and genuine souls you could ever hope to know. To call her a friend is truly a gift.

Melissa, thank you for every late night, every early morning, every idea, every moment of encouragement, and every ounce of love you’ve poured into this Krewe since the very beginning. You are part of its foundation, its spirit, and its bearing heart 💓 and we are so incredibly grateful for you!

Today we celebrate YOU. We love you deeply, we appreciate you endlessly, and we are SO blessed to have walked this journey with you from the very start. 💚 ✨🍀😍

Everyone help us wish Melissa the happiest, most love-filled 710 dab day birthday! 👇

🌿📜✨ W33D FACT WEDNESDAY ✨📜🌿

More History They Didn’t Teach You...

At exactly 8:00 a.m. on January 1, 2014, history changed forever.

The doors opened at 3D Cannab!s Center in Denver, Colorado, becoming the site of the first documented legal recreational cannab!s sale in the United States.

Waiting at the front of the line was Sean Azzariti, a 32 year old Iraq War veteran and longtime advocate for reducing the stigma surrounding cannab!s.

His purchase wasn’t extravagant: One eighth of Bubba Kush and a cannab!s infused truffle. His receipt totaled $59.74.

To most people, it looked like an ordinary purchase. In reality, it marked the beginning of a new chapter in American history.

🧠🌿 Sometimes history is written by presidents and lawmakers.

Sometimes it’s written by an ordinary person making an ordinary purchase that changes the way a nation sees a plant.

🌿 Terpene Tuesday: Meet Myrcene! 💚

Did you know that Myrcene is the most abundant terpene found in many cannab!s strains?

Known for its earthy, musky, herbal aroma with subtle hints of cloves and hops, Myrcene is often associated with the deeply relaxing effects many cannab!s consumers seek after a long day.

Potential characteristics of Myrcene:
🍃 Promotes deep relaxation
😴 May support restful sleep
💆 May help ease everyday stress
🙂 May help with gut health
🦴 May contribute to overall comfort and recovery

You can also find Myrcene naturally in everyday plants and foods like:
🥭 Mangoes
🌿 Lemongrass
🍺 Hops
🌱 Thyme

🧠 Fun Fact: While Myrcene has long been linked to the classic "couch-lock" feeling, today's research suggests that the overall experience depends on the "entourage effect," the way cannabinoids, terpenes, and other cannab!s compounds work together - rather than any single terpene alone.

As always, everyone's endocannabinoid system is unique, so effects can vary from person to person. Learning about terpenes can help you make more informed choices when selecting products that fit your personal wellness goals.

🌿 Education over stigma. One terpene at a time. 💬
