When people say, “Just make him eat it!” 😂🍽️

Meanwhile, her child with autism and ARFID:
❌ Chicken? No.
❌ Rice? No.
❌ The meal I spent an hour making? Absolutely not.

But his favorite safe food?
✅ Gone in record time. 😅

ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) isn’t being “picky” or “spoiled.” For many autistic individuals, certain textures, smells, tastes, or even the appearance of food can feel overwhelming. Safe foods help them feel comfortable and regulated.

Every small bite is a win, and every child deserves patience instead of pressure. 💙

POV: You’re cleaning the house, but you know better than to touch the toy lineup. 😂

Mom: “Let me just move these real quick…”

Also Mom: “Actually… I choose peace.” 😭😂

When your autistic child has their toys lined up just right, you learn to clean around the masterpiece. 🧸🚗✨

Because sometimes parenting means knowing exactly what NOT to touch. 😂

Looking back, she realized she never should have been so hard on herself for having those emotions.

It’s okay to grieve the expectations you once had. It’s okay to feel scared, confused, or overwhelmed. Those feelings don’t make you a bad parent—they make you human.

And sometimes, allowing yourself to feel is what helps you find clarity. Through that journey, she learned to understand her child more deeply, embrace who they are, and move forward together.

There is no perfect way to receive a diagnosis. There is only the journey of learning, accepting, advocating, and loving your child exactly as they are. 🤍

Big feelings aren’t bad behavior—they’re messages. 💙

When a child is angry, worried, sad, excited, or frustrated, their emotions may be telling us that they need safety, reassurance, connection, movement, support, or simply some time and space.

Instead of asking, “How do I stop this feeling?” try asking, “What is my child trying to tell me, and what do they need right now?”

Our calm presence can help children learn that their feelings are safe, manageable, and okay. 🌱

Pause. Notice. Understand. Respond. Support.
Because connection comes before correction. 🤍

Oral stimming is more than a behavior—it can be a way of communicating, regulating, and meeting a sensory need. 💙

For autistic individuals, chewing, mouthing, licking, or other repetitive oral behaviors can provide comfort, sensory input, help with focus, or support emotional regulation.

Instead of asking, “How do we stop this behavior?” let’s ask, “What need is this behavior communicating, and how can we support it safely?

With patience, understanding, and the right support, we can create environments where autistic children feel safe, accepted, and understood. 🌱💙

Every behavior has a reason. Let’s listen with compassion.

Sometimes, the tears aren’t from sadness—they’re from seeing just how far your child has come. 🥹💙

Watching his autistic child participate in a team sport, surrounded by teammates and proudly taking part, this dad couldn’t hold back his emotions.

For some families, moments like this mean so much more than a game. They represent courage, growth, inclusion, and the beautiful reminder that every child deserves the chance to belong. 🏆💙

Every milestone is worth celebrating. Every child deserves a team. 🤍

☀️ How a parent sees their autistic child.

Not through a diagnosis—but through love.

They see the sunshine in every smile, the beauty in every milestone, and the strength in every step forward. Autism is just one part of who they are. Their child is so much more: joyful, resilient, curious, and deeply loved.

Every child deserves to be seen for who they are—not just the challenges they face, but the light they bring into the world. 💛

⏳ Waiting is a skill—and like any skill, it can be taught. 💙

For many autistic children, waiting can feel overwhelming because they may not yet understand how long they’ll wait or what happens next. The good news? With the right support, waiting becomes easier over time.

Simple strategies can make a big difference:
✨ Visual timers
✨ First/Then language
✨ Turn-taking boards
✨ Clear countdowns
✨ Waiting cards
✨ Small activities to stay engaged

Remember, we’re not just teaching children to “be patient”—we’re giving them the tools to understand, cope, and succeed in everyday situations.

Every child learns at their own pace, and every extra second they can wait is a milestone worth celebrating.💙
