The team at Kith Care Management has noticed most older adults want the same thing: to remain in the homes and communities they love for as long as possible.

But thriving at home requires more than just a house. It requires:Community ,Safety,TransportationSocial connection, Access to resources, and Trusted support systems

This is why aging-in-place conversations are becoming so important across healthcare, senior services, technology, and local communities.

When we build stronger support networks around older adults, we help reduce crisis situations and improve quality of life for entire families.

Aging in place works best when no one has to do it alone.

Welcome Shelby Crowding!

We are delighted to welcome Shelby Crowding, MOT, OTR/L, to the Kith Elder Care team!

A Delaware County native, Shelby grew up in Upper Darby and Media and now lives in Springfield with her husband, two dogs, Stitch and Chicken Nugget, and two cats, Alfredo and Scampi.

Shelby brings a strong background in helping older adults maintain independence, safety, and quality of life.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy from Temple University, graduating summa cm laude and receiving her department’s prestigious Outstanding Senior Award. After becoming a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS), she worked in an independent living and personal care community before pursuing her Master of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of the Sciences, where she again graduated summa cm laude.

Most recently, Shelby served as a home health occupational therapist with Crozer Hospital, helping individuals remain safe and successful in their own homes.

What drew Shelby to Kith Elder Care is our shared belief that great care starts with understanding the whole person. Her professional philosophy centers on providing individualized support that honors each person's personality, passions, priorities, and goals, always with a focus on maximizing quality of life.

Outside of work, Shelby is passionate about her family of furry companions, animal advocacy, and spending time with the people and causes she loves.

Please join us in giving Shelby a warm welcome to the Kith Elder Care family! We are excited for the knowledge, compassion, and dedication she brings to our clients and their families

Aging boldly doesn’t mean pretending we don’t need support.

It means continuing to stay curious, engaged, social, and purposeful while also being willing to ask for help when needed.

Some of the most vibrant older adults I know are learning new technology, volunteering, mentoring younger generations, starting businesses, joining walking groups, and reinventing themselves in their 70s and 80s.

The conversation around aging is slowly changing, and it’s overdue.
There is wisdom, humor, resilience, and enormous value in older adults.

Our communities are stronger when aging adults remain visible, connected, and empowered.

Here’s to creating systems, services, and neighborhoods that support people in aging boldly and on their own terms.

As we move into summer, one thing becomes increasingly clear: connection is not a luxury as we age, it’s essential to health and wellbeing.

A quick phone call. A ride to an appointment. A garden party. A neighbor checking in. These moments may seem small, but they create the fabric of community that allows people to thrive as they grow older.

At Kith, we see every day how meaningful human connection can reduce isolation, increase confidence, and help people remain active and engaged in the lives they love.

June feels like the perfect month to lean into community, more time outdoors, more opportunities to gather, and more chances to remind one another: no one should age alone.

A simple phone call can do more than you think.

For older adults living alone, days can get very quiet. And while independence is important, so is connection. Regular check-in calls aren’t just “nice”—they support mental health, emotional well-being, and even physical safety.
A quick call can:
• Break up long stretches of isolation
• Give someone something to look forward to
• Catch small issues before they become big problems
• Remind someone they matter

You don’t need the perfect words or a long conversation. Just showing up consistently “thinking of you, how’s your day going?” can make a real difference.

If you have an older adult in your life who lives alone, consider making that call today. Then make it a habit.
Connection is care.
