Although May was Tick Borne Disease Awareness Month, tick season is still upon us.
Pennsylvania is one of the leading states in Lyme Disease cases (over 18,000 confirmed cases in 2025).
Prevention is KEY!
Wear light colored long pants and long sleeve shirts, use an approved insect repellent (DEET, picaridin, IR3535, Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus (OLE), para-menthane-diol (PMD), or 2-undecanone), and do tick checks when you come back inside. If you find a tick on you, remove it by gently holding near the head with a pair of tweezer and lift it off until it lets go.
Speak with your doctor about possible prophylaxis for lyme disease if you are in a lyme-endemic region and removed and engorged deer or pacific black legged tick within the past 72 hours.
