✨ New Service Announcement! ✨

I’m excited to announce that Enliven OT is now offering Inclusive Toileting & Personal Care Training for organizations supporting children and adults with disabilities.

Many recreation programs, camps, schools, and community organizations want to provide inclusive experiences—but staff often receive little formal training on how to safely and respectfully assist someone with toileting needs.

As an occupational therapist specializing in pelvic health and neurogenic bowel and bladder management, I provide practical, evidence-based training that helps staff feel confident while promoting the dignity, safety, and independence of the individuals they support.

Trainings can be customized for:
🌟 Parks & Recreation Departments
🏕️ Summer Camps & After-School Programs
🏫 Schools & Special Education Programs
🤝 Adult Day Programs
💙 Disability Service Organizations
🏡 Residential & Community Living Programs

Topics may include:
✔️ Safe transfers and positioning
✔️ Maintaining dignity and privacy
✔️ Adaptive equipment
✔️ Communication strategies
✔️ Toileting routines and scheduling
✔️ Supporting individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities
✔️ Building staff confidence through hands-on learning

If your team would benefit from customized staff training, I’d love to connect!

📩 Send me a DM or email me to learn more about bringing a training to your organization.

Potty training doesn’t have to start with your child p*eing or p**ping on the toilet.

One of the best ways to support success is by introducing the potty slowly—without pressure. When children have time to explore the potty, practice the routine, and build positive experiences, their nervous systems learn that the bathroom is a safe place.

Remember: potty training is about more than using the toilet. It involves body awareness, motor skills, emotional regulation, and learning a brand-new routine.

If your child seems fearful of the potty, refuses to sit, or struggles with p**p or p*e withholding, slowing down may actually help them move forward.

✨ Progress isn’t measured by how quickly your child is out of diapers—it’s measured by how confidently they learn.

Transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) is a gentle, non-invasive treatment option used in pelvic floor therapy to support bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor function in both children and adults.

By delivering mild electrical stimulation through the skin near the ankle, TTNS helps improve communication between the nerves and the pelvic floor, which can reduce urinary urgency and frequency, support bowel function, and improve pelvic floor muscle coordination.

TTNS is often combined with pelvic floor therapy, behavioral strategies, routine supports, and diet and fluid guidance to help create lasting improvements.

Curious whether TTNS may help you or your child? Reach out to learn more about how pelvic floor occupational therapy can support your goals.

Breathing isn’t just about the lungs — it’s pelvic floor work too 💛

In kids, the diaphragm and pelvic floor are designed to move together.
When a child learns to breathe low into their belly, the pelvic floor can relax, coordinate, and do its job more effectively.

That’s why pelvic floor therapists start with diaphragmatic (belly) breathing:
✨ To support bladder and bowel function
✨ To calm the nervous system
✨ To improve body awareness and coordination

We keep it playful, simple, and pressure-free — because regulation comes before strengthening.

Save this post for kid-friendly breathing cues and easy ways to practice at home 🧸🎈

🎉 We’re 1 year old! 🎉
It’s officially been a whole year of helping kids and adults with neurological conditions feel more confident and continent— and wow, what a year it’s been.

In the last year, we’ve met amazing people, celebrated big and small wins, and learned so much along the way. 💙

Huge thank you to everyone who’s trusted us, encouraged us, or partnered with us this year. Your support means everything.

Here’s to year two — more growth, more empowerment, and more conversations that make pelvic health feel normal, approachable, and completely human. 🙌✨
