Eczema. Atopic Dermatitis.
Do we have to treat? Is Steroid our only option? What should I be doing at home?

What’s the most frustrating thing about you or your child’s eczema? Tell us in the comments!

1) not treating has shown to cause significant disruption to a child’s growth, learning development, and overall quality of life. It’s important to treat.

2) steroids can be amazing, but we have SO many other medications now for treatment that work better for longer term solutions. The list above is not all inclusive. Go see a derm provider.

3) I know we feel like it’s a good allergy, but most of the time it is not. You will spin your wheels for a long time trying to figure out what foods are “causing” it. This is not to say your kid may not also have a food allergy, but it’s likely not the reason for the eczema if it is chronic.

4. You are doing a good job.

I may see fewer patients each day because I’m driving across the Valley, but that’s exactly the point.

As a dermatology nurse practitioner, I wanted to practice differently: with enough time to listen, personalize each treatment plan, offer preventative treatment solutions, and truly follow my patients through every stage of their skin needs.
