I was a couch potato and smoking a pack of cigarettes everyday. I worked from home at the time and could easily go weeks without leaving the house. Depression was never a word I used to describe how I was feeling but it was obvious I was not happy. I can still remember the day that I LITERALLY had the “aha” moment. I was sitting in my favorite chair, TV on in the background, playing candy crush (m
y only form of exercise!) and shopping for an upcoming work meeting I was required to attend in person. The same store my mother shopped from. Now, I’m not dissing where my mom shops from but it was definitely a major eye opener. The moment was my reality check. I sat there, assessing myself. Half way through my life, 48 years old, smokes a pack a day, overweight, knees that hurt so bad I had to walk down small inclines backwards, unhappy, unfit, the list could go on!!!! It was in that moment I finally said ‘F’ this! This, this life I am living, this is NOT going to be my life. I AM going to make changes. I AM capable. With that mantra in my head I set out, put on a pair of my husbands sweat pants, threw on an oversized t-shirt, and walked into the gym! Did I feel uncomfortable being there? YES. Did I want to leave? But, guess what? I didn’t. I did not quit! I went back to that gym every day, started walking…a lot, got off the couch, and did it. No more potato for me! The first few years were great! I was getting stronger and happier! I continued down that path and things were good. Until, after almost 11 years in my role with “Big Bank USA” , was eliminated. Covid had us all on lockdown and at the time my eating habits were not great. My status quo fitness routine was no longer working. Then, there it was again! Another one of those “aha” moments! Time to reassess! The question at hand? Do I let Covid and my job loss get me down? NO NO NO! With that I started reading more about food and nutrition, upping my workout game A LOT, and finally decided to follow my passion for health and wellness. I hit the books and obtained my certified in Nutrition and Fitness! Fast forward to the present. I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been! Nutrion, nutrition, nutrition! Thanks for taking the time to read my story! I would love to help YOU write the next chapters of your journey – who’s ready to join the Tribe and FIT-UP!
