And another one! 🙌🏽 Today, Hillary Aponte-Chimelis had the opportunity to present to the newest doula cohort training in Berks County. The topic: Supporting Families Through Grief & Loss.🤎

Conversations like these matter because grief doesn’t always look the way we expect, and sometimes the most meaningful support isn’t having the right words or trying to fix the pain. It’s simply being willing to sit with someone in it.

Grateful for the opportunity to help equip others to support families through some of life’s most difficult moments. 🫶🏽 Thank you to Maternity Care Coalition for the opportunity.

¡Y otro!

Six weeks postpartum. A runway debut. And a bigger conversation about what we expect from mothers.

The conversation surrounding Barbara Palvin runway appearance has me thinking about how we measure postpartum recovery.

We often use what we can see to decide how someone must be doing. But a public appearance doesn’t tell us someone’s entire recovery story.

And this isn’t about judging Barbara or assuming we know what her experience has been like. We can celebrate a woman’s accomplishments without turning her experience into everyone else’s expectation.

A mother can feel empowered and still need support. She can be doing well and still be healing. She can love her new identity and still miss parts of her old one.

We don’t have to turn another woman’s milestone into our own deadline.

And this is part of why I’m creating The Reset. 🤎
A space for mothers to pause, reconnect with themselves, and have honest conversations about the changes, expectations, and identity shifts that come with motherhood.

This month’s article, Long-Term Health Benefits of Birthing with a Doula, was written by a member of the Emotional Compass team, Darlene, and we couldn’t be more proud of her. Darlene holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and she is a Certified Perinatal Doula.

She beautifully highlights the ways doula support can extend beyond pregnancy and birth, helping birthing people feel informed, confident, empowered, and more connected to their own voices as they navigate healthcare and parenthood.

Also, check out the October issue of Palo Magazine and learn more about Yomaira Polanco and Yomaris Rodriguez. Their story is a beautiful reflection of what it means to build a legacy rooted in sacrifice, perseverance, humility, and service.
