Return to throw programs provide a good framework but are often given as a one size fits all program.

Working within the framework that you have been given and utilizing a variety of plyo ball and waterbag drills to correct the mechanical flaws that contributed to the problem in the first place is absolutely necessary if you do not want to end right back where you started.

Just going out and following the program that you have been given without any effort to make adjustments to clean up your mechanics is setting yourself up for failure.

Do not just follow the generic one size fits all program, take a structured individualized approach that looks at your mechanics and addresses your exact mechanics flaws.

If you need help with your return to the throw and are ready to take a structured individualized approach. DM me the word “STRUCTURE” for more details!

Waterbags can be a great tool when utilized properly during the return to throw phase

During the return to throw phase it is essential that athletes learn to correct any mechanical flaws that may have contributed to their symptoms. Waterbags are a great tool to utilize when working to rebuild mechanics without having to drive a lot of stress through the throwing arm.

Water bag drills can be a great way to help pitches:

-Improve the control of their center of mass
-Increase segmentation and separation of hip rotation vs torso rotation
-train core stability and trunk posture.

One note of caution is that early on in the return to throw phase, players need to be cautious how they grip and hold these waterbags, in that the way athletes hold these bags could drive an increased amount of stress to recently repaired or healing structures.

You got cleared to throw… but your mechanics are a mess.

Cleared ≠ ready.

Your tissue might be healed,
but that doesn’t mean:
• your timing is back
• your sequencing is clean
• your arm isn’t taking on extra stress

This is where most guys get stuck.

They rush back into throwing…
with the same (or worse) movement patterns that caused the issue in the first place.

And then they wonder why:
• their velo is down
• their arm still feels off
• or pain starts creeping back in

👉 Rehab gets you healthy.
👉 Mechanics + capacity get you back to throwing HARD and pain-free.

If you’ve been cleared but something still doesn’t feel right…
DM me “RETURN” and I’ll help you figure out what’s missing.

Most pitchers think the hard part is getting healthy.
It’s not.

The hard part is what comes next.

You finish rehab…You get cleared…You start throwing again…

But:
• your velocity isn’t back• your arm doesn’t feel the same• your mechanics feel off• you don’t trust it at full intent

So you sit in this in-between phase…
Healthy enough to play
But not good enough to compete at your level

👉 This is where careers stall
Because most systems stop here.

Rehab focuses on:• pain reduction• basic strength• range of motion

It does NOT rebuild:• high-speed mechanics• sequencing under intent• workload tolerance for real competition

So pitchers either:• stay stuck with lower velocity• deal with recurring arm issues• or try to push through and get hurt again

There’s a missing phase…
➡️ Return to performance

That’s where:• mechanics get rebuilt• velocity is restored• the arm is actually prepared for the game

Most pitchers never get this.

That’s why most don’t come back the same.
If you’re in that gap right now…
DM me “RETURN” and I’ll help you bridge it 👊

A disconnected arm action is one of the most common issues that many players returning from injury or recent surgery struggle with

What is a “disconnected arm action”?

A disconnected arm action occurs when the player’s arm is moving out of sync with the rest of the body.

Energy is transferred proximally to distally, being that we want the rotation of the torso to cleanly transfer energy to the throwing arm. When the arm action is disconnected, it is not working in sync with the rotation of the torso to cleanly capture this energy and transfer it into the throw.

Why does this happen?

The body is smart and is constantly trying to protect itself. If the body does not believe it is ready to handle all of the energy transferred from the lower half through the trunk into the arm, it will find ways to compensate in order to protect itself.

While short term this may be okay, long term this is not a sustainable solution if you are trying to return to throwing at a high level.

So what do you do? How do we fix this?

1. Bulletproof the arm. A dialed in arm care program will prepare the arm to withstand these forces and help the body regain “trust” in the arm.

2. Gradual reintroduction of efficient throwing mechanics utilizing a constraints based approach to reteach the body how to coordinate the kinematic sequence and align with high level throwing pattern.

If you are struggling with a disconnected arm action. DM me the word “disconnected” and I will see if I can help.

You didn’t lose velo because your arm is “still hurt.”
You lost it because rehab didn’t rebuild what actually creates velocity.

Most rehab does a great job of:
• Getting you out of pain
• Restoring basic strength
• Clearing you to throw

But it doesn’t prepare you for this:
👉 throwing at max intent
👉 high-speed arm action
👉 elite-level sequencing

So what happens?

You come back and:
• your mechanics feel off
• your arm doesn’t move the same
• your velo drops

And everyone says:
“Just keep throwing, it’ll come back”

❌ That’s where most guys stay stuck

Because velocity isn’t just about your arm being healthy…

It’s about your entire system producing and transferring force efficiently.

If you didn’t rebuild:
• lower half power
• trunk rotation timing
• layback + arm speed
• workload tolerance at high intensity

…your velo was never coming back in the first place.

Rehab gets you cleared.
It doesn’t get you throwing 90+ again.
That’s the gap no one talks about.

And that’s exactly what I help pitchers fix.

If your velo dropped after injury…

You got cleared… but your arm still doesn’t feel right.

This is where most pitchers get stuck.

You did the rehab. You passed the tests. You were told you’re “good to go.”

But…

Your velo is downYour arm doesn’t bounce backSomething just feels off

👉 That’s not random.

Because getting “cleared” doesn’t mean you’re ready to perform.

It just means you’re not in pain anymore.

What’s missing?
• Your mechanics were never rebuilt• Your throwing progression didn’t prepare you for max intent• Your arm isn’t ready for high-speed stress yet• Your body is still protecting itself

So you’re left in this middle ground…

Healthy enough to throwBut not ready to compete
That gap is where velocity dropsThat’s where frustration buildsThat’s where careers stall
Most people stop here.
I don’t.

I help pitchers bridge that gap—so their arm actually feels right again and their velocity comes back.

If that’s you…
DM me “RETURN” and I’ll take a look at what’s going on 👊
