Did you know physicians in the US prescribed cannabis to patients prior to prohibition in 1937? Did you know that they knew the difference between - and THC-heavy strains and prescribed them for different ailments? According to in his book 'Seeing Through the Smoke', "Starting in the 1840s, cannabis was an increasingly common and accepted medication in the United States, often in the form of tinctures, produced by mainstream pharmaceutical companies such as Parke-Davis and Eli Lilly." The two companies even worked together on a failed project to create pure THC and strains of cannabis. Over 100 papers were published on cannabis as medicine in the late 19th century. The even testified against cannabis prohibition in 1937, but by then a years-long propaganda campaign led by Harry Anslinger had taken hold, placing an 80 year delay on a plant that's been used medicinally for at least 5,000 years.
