The delayed freedom of enslaved Black Americans reminds us that justice in this county has always been uneven, and that the fight for freedom continues today.

Current political attacks on bodily autonomy continue to disproportionately harm Black communities—deepening long-standing health inequities. Real freedom is yet to appear for many, but it is tantalizingly close!

As we celebrate today and gather in joy, we also recommit to advancing reproductive justice as a vital part of racial justice. We will not rest until ALL of us have the bodily autonomy we are owed.
