A small moment. A major impact.

When a patient’s prescribed therapy was denied, Holly Petrino, NP-C, AIC Regional Clinical Director at LUX Infusion, knew the story was not over.

Working alongside the ordering provider and reimbursement team, Holly helped support the appeal process and kept the patient’s needs at the center of every step.

The result: the appeal was approved.

For the patient, that approval meant more than access to medication. It meant relief. It meant being heard. It meant one less barrier standing between them and the care their provider recommended.

“Sometimes, as clinicians, it can feel like we cannot control the insurance barriers our patients face. But this was a reminder that advocacy matters. When we stay engaged, collaborate with care teams, and keep pushing for the patient, we can help turn a denial into a path forward.”

Holly Petrino, NP-C

At LUX Infusion, clinician-led care does not stop at the infusion chair. It includes the calls, coordination, appeals, follow-up, and persistence that help patients move forward with confidence.

Navigating the 2026 ASPEN Clinical Guideline Update

The new ASPEN Clinical Guidelines for Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) have dropped, with several key updates:

• Establish a minimum of 30 kcal/kg and 1.2–1.5g protein/kg daily during chemoradiation to aggressively combat muscle wasting.

• Offers support for oral/enteral glutamine to reduce mucositis severity, while explicitly advising against parenteral (IV) glutamine.

• Gastrostomy (PEG/RIG) is now the suggested standard when nutritional support is anticipated to exceed 4-6 weeks.

• Includes a mandate to maintain some oral intake—when safe— even after transitioning to EN to protect long-term swallowing.

LUX Infusion is here when you need a parenteral or enteral nutrition partner that understands the latest, emerging evidence.

🧠 Migraine Awareness Month 🧠

This Migraine & Headache Awareness Month, we’re standing witness to an ongoing and profound shift in clinical care.

For decades, prevention relied on repurposed medications like antihypertensives and antidepressants. CGRP therapies marked the first wave of engineered migraine-specific prevention, reducing overuse of acute therapies and opening the door to more targeted stability.

Now, we are seeing the rise of non-CGRP approaches, such as those targeting PACAP pathways, which may offer a safety net for those that CGRP has failed. For those affected by migraines, we’re working to make sure emerging treatments are accessible for all.

LUX Infusion is proud to attend the American Transplant Congress (ATC) in Boston, Massachusetts, from June 20–24.

As the leading forum for solid organ and tissue transplantation, ATC brings together the full transplant community, including physicians, surgeons, pharmacists, nurses, researchers, administrators, and industry partners. The conference serves as a place to share knowledge, explore new developments in transplant medicine, and collaborate on the future of patient care.

We look forward to connecting with transplant professionals from across the country and supporting the conversations that help improve outcomes for transplant patients.

This Men's Health Month, we're talking about something that doesn't get enough attention.

Men are 50% less likely to seek medical care than women. And for chronic conditions like MS, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and CIDP, that delay means years of unnecessary damage before treatment ever starts.

We wrote about why this happens, which conditions men are most likely carrying longer than they should, and how infusion therapy at LUX Infusion can change the outcome when the time finally comes to act.

Getting evaluated is not a sign of weakness. It is the opposite.

Share this with a man in your life who deserves better care.

Celebrating Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month

June finds us in Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, a time to recognize the scientific strides being made in neurovascular health.

Therapies like LEQEMBI are becoming more accessible, with maintenance subcutaneous dosing having recently become available so that early-stage patients can continue therapy at home after the initial 18-month infusion period. The FDA is also considering an approval for making subcutaneous delivery available right from the start of therapy.

The goal is not just about convenience, but rather about creating a sustainable roadmap to managing a condition that presents enough challenges of its own.

At LUX Infusion, we’re not only honoring those currently suffering through Alzheimer’s but also the scientists, researchers, and providers bringing new therapies to light, looking forward to the day when we can finally ’s.
