Statement on Allegation of Bed Bug Activity
Portland Center for Assisted Living (PCAL) is aware of a recent allegation regarding a recent report of bed bugs at our facility. We want to reassure our residents, families, staff and the broader public that their comfort, safety, and well-being remain our highest priority.
We take every report expressed regarding pest concerns seriously. Out of an abundance of caution, we have established and implemented environmental mitigation protocols, which include:
• Frequent comprehensive inspections by licensed pest-control professionals
• Proactive treatment measures in any area of concern
• Ongoing monitoring to ensure a safe and comfortable environment
• Education and encouragement to our residents to avoid accumulating large amounts of items such as piles of clothing, stuffed animals and/or books as examples
Bed bugs can occur in any community setting and are not necessarily related to cleanliness. Our team follows rigorous cleanliness, sanitation, and infection-prevention standards every day.
We remain committed to transparency and will continue to communicate openly with residents, families, staff and community partners.
