Volunteer Ice Cream Event Friday‼️

Volunteer Services is continuing its tradition
of celebrating the Sweet Days of Summer
with our volunteers!

On Friday, July 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., make plans to stop by Wolford’s Landing Campground (6888 E. Front Street, Sciotoville), where Volunteer Services will be serving up cool and refreshing Drumstick Cones to our wonderful - and very sweet - volunteers.

Simply stop by Jenny Lavender’s camper (just look for the Little Free Library in the front yard) and enjoy a delicious summertime treat! Hi everyone… I’m Storm! 🐾

Today was my official debut as one of SOMC’s Pawsitive Care volunteers, and I got to spend the day with my big brother, Yeti. He told me I’d love it here… and he was right‼️

The first thing I learned? Miss Jenny has a secret drawer filled with salmon and tuna packets just for us four-legged volunteers. I have a feeling I’m going to remember exactly where that drawer is 🐟.

Then I spotted a basket of snacks sitting on the counter. Surely those were for me too, right? Well… not exactly. Apparently they’re for the two-legged volunteers. I may have tried to investigate anyway. A girl’s got to make sure quality control is up to standards 🤭.

Everywhere I went, people smiled, knelt down to pet me, scratched behind my ears, gave me hugs, and told me what a pretty girl I am. (I didn’t argue). I even earned a few extra treats along the way.

By the end of the day, I realized something important. Volunteering isn’t just about getting treats - although that’s definitely a perk. It’s about making people smile, brightening someone’s day, and sharing a little love wherever my paws take me.

I think I’m going to like this volunteer thing…A LOT‼️

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go remind Miss Jenny to keep that salmon drawer fully stocked. A volunteer has to stay fueled for all those tail wags 🐟.

🩷 Love, Storm 🐾

Some volunteers just can’t wait to get to work…and Bella is definitely one of them! 🐾💙

The moment Bella realized she had arrived at SOMC, she was more than ready to begin her volunteer shift. Her tail was wagging, her excitement was contagious, and her dad couldn’t get parked fast enough before she was eager to greet everyone.

Our Pawsitive Care Team volunteers have a special way of brightening the day, one wag, one smile, and one visit at a time. We’re so grateful for Bella and all the joy she brings to our patients, visitors, and staff 🐶.

⚠️ Cyclospora cases are on the rise. Help reduce your risk by thoroughly washing all fresh fruits and vegetables under clean, running water before eating. Follow safe food handling practices to help prevent illness.

Keep in mind that chemical disinfectants or sanitizers may not fully eliminate Cyclospora. Even if produce is labeled "pre-washed" or "ready-to-eat," it's still a good idea to rinse it thoroughly before consuming.

Refer to the guide below to ensure proper food handling and storage.
