White Picket Fence has always been more than a counseling center. It has been a community, a place of hope, and a home for healing. And after 20 years, I am as committed as ever to continuing this work, in new spaces and new ways, while carrying the lessons of the past into the future.

Celebrating 20 years of compassionate therapy at White Picket Fence Counseling Center, specializing in eating disorders & emotional healing.

If you are reading this and your heart feels heavy, please know you are not alone. The recent floods in Texas and North Carolina have brought unimaginable challenges and sorrow to so many. My thoughts are especially with those in Chapel Hill—a community I hold close from my time spent there—and with everyone in Texas facing devastation and loss.

To everyone affected, please remember to care for yourselves and each other as you navigate the days ahead. Healing takes time, and it’s okay to reach out for support.

I am holding you all in my thoughts and wishing peace and comfort for every person impacted by these tragedies.

When self-improvement becomes another source of pressure, remember: you don't have to be endlessly evolving to be worthy of kindness, rest, or ease.

You can burn out on inner work. When healing becomes another checklist item instead of peace, you need permission to pause.

Grief is not a checklist. It’s not always the five clean stages you may have heard about. It’s nonlinear. Messy. Tender.

Grief is not a checklist. It’s not always the five clean stages you may have heard about. It’s nonlinear. Messy. Tender.

Grief doesn’t always show up with tears or profound endings. Sometimes it’s quieter.

Sometimes we need to disconnect to come back home to ourselves.

When the world feels like a lot, mindlessness can soothe us, and mindfulness can reconnect us.
