For mothers in the trenches, whether they are feeling the newborn sleep deprivation, navigating toddler tantrums, or anticipating all of the unique needs each child may have, the difficulties are often not apparent to others looking in.

If you know a mom that is in this stage of life, reach out... even if it looks like she's holding everything together so well.

Check in. Drop off food. Offer to sit with her. Say “I see you, and you’re doing an amazing job.”

Because 1 in 5 mothers have symptoms severe enough to meet the criteria of a diagnosis, but only 1 in 20 seek out help.

You don’t have to fix it. You just have to show up.

We talk a lot about working too hard as a cause of burnout — but what about never fully being anywhere?

Multitasking keeps our nervous system in constant overdrive. And over time, that adds up. The exhaustion you feel by midday is your brain telling you it needs a break.

One moment of presence at a time. That’s all we’re going for. 💙

You prepared for the baby. Nobody prepared you for what happens to you.

Matrescence (the identity shift of becoming a mother) is one of the least talked about transitions in a woman’s life. And it shows.

Here’s what it can look like:

→ Grieving your old self while loving your new baby
→ Feeling like you don’t recognize yourself anymore
→ Wondering if you made a mistake — and feeling guilty for even thinking it
→ Loving motherhood and resenting it in the same breath

None of that makes you a bad mom. It makes you a human being in the middle of something enormous.

Follow along. You deserve a space where this stuff gets named.

You are allowed to experience this day however it arrives for you — with celebration, grief, gratitude, longing, love, or uncertainty. All of it is valid.

Boundaries! Such an important topic, but we all know the guilt that follows a little too well 👀

If you are waiting to feel ready, or wait for the guilt to go away before you act, you might be living with things that you don't want for way too long.

The most effective way to learn boundaries by setting them... uncomfortable feelings and all.

Guilt after a boundary doesn’t mean you did something wrong. It usually means you did something different. And different takes time to feel okay.

Be patient with yourself. 💙

Postpartum depression doesn’t always look the way we think it does and that’s exactly why so many people suffer in silence.

If you’ve been minimizing what you’re feeling because it doesn’t look “bad enough,” this is your sign to stop comparing your pain to someone else’s and start taking yours seriously.

You don’t have to hit rock bottom to deserve support. Struggling quietly still counts. 💙

May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month. All month I’ll be sharing more about what perinatal mental health really looks like — the stuff that doesn’t make it onto the highlight reel of new motherhood.

If any of this resonated, share it with someone who needs to hear it.

If you've been exhausted for weeks and can't figure out why, this is for you.

Burnout doesn't always look like someone who can't get out of bed. Sometimes it looks like someone who's still showing up, still performing, still smiling... but completely hollow inside.

Here are 3 signs your exhaustion is actually burnout:

1️⃣ Rest doesn't help. You sleep 9 hours and still wake up tired.
2️⃣ You've lost interest in things that used to excite you.
3️⃣ Small tasks feel overwhelming in a way they never did before.

Burnout is a nervous system response to chronic stress. It's not a character flaw.

If this resonates, save this post. You might need it later.
