Week 7 of building our homestead, one step at a time. 🌱

A rainy week, our first test crop, our first barbecue on the land and a few unexpected visitors. Can you guess what we planted? 👀

Week 7 in the books!

Went tractor shopping Chenango and learned a whole lot… including how much a new tractor costs! 🚜😅

Mike was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through everything. We left with a better idea of what we need, but that price tag has us rethinking buying new.

We’re working toward building our homestead debt free, and sometimes that means slowing down, weighing our options, and keeping the bigger goal in mind. For now, the tractor dream is still a work in progress. 🌱

Florida’s cooler days are on their way, and I’m getting ready with a big pot of homemade chicken sancocho! 🍲🤎

I add chicken feet for their collagen and the rich, flavorful broth they create. A comforting meal for when the temperatures finally drop!

Do you add chicken feet to your soup too? 👀🐔

A bag of seeds marked 50% off at Walmart? I took that as my sign to finally start learning. 🌱😂

I’m no gardening expert—just getting my hands dirty and figuring things out as I go. My goal is to become more self-sufficient and grow more of the food we put on our family’s table. Every seed is a little practice for the future we’re building. 💚

Not every week comes with a huge milestone—and that’s okay.

Sometimes progress looks like one long, hot day, a little family teamwork, and one more piece of the property beginning to take shape. We may be moving slower than we’d like, but every cleared section brings us closer to the VillaBravo we see in our heads. 🌿

Slow progress is still progress.

Never thought driving onto a piece of land could feel so exciting, but here we are! 😂🙌

Our culvert is in, and VillaBravo officially has an entrance! No more parking outside and hauling everything in on foot—a change we’re VERY happy about.

So grateful for the neighbors who showed up with equipment, time, and a helping hand. This milestone will always have them in it. 🤎

Homemade tamales de puerco rojos ❤️ Tender pork in red chile sauce, wrapped in masa and steamed in corn husks. A little patience, a messy kitchen, and a whole lot of flavor—worth every minute! 🫔

Who else could eat tamales any time of year? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Some weeks are measured in how much land we cleared. This one was measured by the moment our property finally began to feel accessible—and a little more like home. 🌱

We’re incredibly grateful for good neighbors who continue to share their time, equipment, and experience with us. Building VillaBravo may be slow, sweaty work, but every small milestone reminds us just how far we’ve already come.

Week 5 was a good one. 🤎

“Underestimated” doesn’t begin to describe it.

The amount of hours cutting and hauling, mosquito 🦟 and ant 🐜 bites we have endured is truly on another level.

Would not have it any other way.

The latest project Chat and I came up with during lunch 😂🦜 Apparently, I can’t just eat a sandwich… I have to plan a 60-foot aviary too.

Tagging hubby so he can prepare. 🤣
