Kids don't always say, “My tooth hurts.”
Sometimes they show you.
Maybe they're chewing on one side instead of both.

Create a dedicated, kid-friendly dental-care spot with the toothbrush, toothpaste, flossers, and a cup all together. The idea is simple: remove the friction. It makes sense that if we brush our teeth with minty or fruity toothpaste to make our breath smell better, it should work on dogs too, but the truth is a little more complicated.

Toothpaste made for people isn’t made for dogs to swallow. Some human toothpastes contain ingredients that can be harmful to pets, including xylitol, a sugar substitute.

So if your pup has stinky breath, skip the family toothpaste and use dental products specifically made for dogs. And yes, dogs can benefit from having their teeth brushed, too!

When those first little teeth arrive, it’s tempting to try anything that might bring relief. But some common teething remedies can do more harm than good.

Avoid teething necklaces and bracelets, frozen items that become too hard, numbing gels unless recommended by your child’s healthcare provider, and anything small or hard enough to become a choking hazard.

For simple relief, try a clean, cool washcloth or an age-appropriate teething toy.
And remember, a high fever, vomiting, persistent diarrhea, or a baby who seems unusually ill shouldn’t automatically be blamed on teething. When in doubt, check with your pediatrician or us.
