Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most.

For so many years, our lives revolved around surgeries, doctor appointments, and recovery. It always felt like another surgery was just around the corner.

Now it’s so nice to watch Kory just enjoy being an 18-year-old. He’s working at the Lake George Steamboat Company, spending time with friends, and making memories. Life is finally starting to feel more normal.

One thing that has made me especially happy is seeing his friendship with Jaxon grow. They met through school, now they work together, and it’s great to see Kory building friendships that have nothing to do with achondroplasia or surgeries. They’re just two friends having fun.

And yes… we had to get a picture on Dumbo!

Be sure to watch the videos too! Kory is riding some of the craziest rides at the fair… rides I never would have let him go on years ago, and honestly, rides I wouldn’t go on myself! Watching him enjoy life, make his own choices, and have the confidence to do things like this is pretty special.

When Kory was little, he couldn’t go on most carnival rides because he never reached the 48-inch height requirement. Dumbo was always one of the rides he could enjoy, so we couldn’t pass up the chance to get one more picture. It brought back a lot of memories.

Life keeps moving forward, and seeing Kory out having fun, working, and making memories with friends is something I’ll never take for granted. 💜

You don’t see the surgeries, the setbacks, or the years of hard work. You just see a young man living his life and working his first summer job. And that’s exactly the point. I’m beyond proud of you, Kory 💜🫶

Watching him listen to Dr. Imahiyerobo explain the procedure reminded me just how much he’s already overcome in his life. Few people will ever understand the physical and emotional strength it takes to endure what he has.

Through every surgery, every recovery, every challenge, he’s shown more courage than most adults are ever asked to find.

I have no doubt he’ll get through this one, just as he has every surgery before it, with the heart of a warrior, the determination to keep moving forward, and the strength that has inspired all of us.

We couldn’t be prouder of you, Kory. 💜

After years of planning, researching, traveling, and meeting with specialists across the country, we finally reached an important milestone this week.

On July 7, Kory was evaluated by Dr. Thomas Imahiyerobo and the Craniofacial Surgery Team at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City.

We came away extremely impressed, not only with Dr. Imahiyerobo, but with the entire team. Every member of the staff was kind, organized, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in Kory’s care. The level of communication and coordination was outstanding, and having consultation notes and next steps available almost immediately was something we truly appreciated.

The current plan is to begin the orthodontic process on August 11 in preparation for a Le Fort III reconstruction early Spring 2027, followed later by a Le Fort I procedure. We are also completing additional testing, including a sleep study and MRI, as part of the surgical planning process. One important question still being worked through is whether Kory should remain on Voxzogo longer to maximize any remaining growth before surgery. We’re consulting with his longtime specialists before making that decision.

We’re grateful to Dr. Alexander for coordinating with Columbia so quickly and helping move everything forward.

This has been a long journey, and there are still many steps ahead, but for the first time in a long time it feels like everyone is working together with a clear plan.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family over the years. Your encouragement has meant more than you know. We’ll continue to share updates as Kory moves through this next chapter. ❤️

Happy 18th Birthday to our boy. 💜

At 1:23 this morning, you officially turned 18… and somehow 1-2-3 is exactly who you are. One of a kind.

Watching this video brings back a lifetime of memories. There were moments filled with laughter, moments that tested all of us, and surgeries that most people couldn’t imagine. Through every challenge, you faced them with more courage than I ever thought possible. You never gave up.

Kory, you have no idea how many lives you’ve touched. You are loved more than you’ll ever fully understand, and you inspire so many people just by being exactly who you are.

Now a whole new chapter begins. The world is waiting for you, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you. The memories we’ve made will stay with us forever, and I know there are so many more still to come.

If I had to do it all over again, every appointment, every surgery, every milestone, every tear, and every celebration. I would be right there beside you in a heartbeat.

Happy 18th Birthday, Kory. Thank you for teaching me more than you will ever know. I couldn’t be prouder to be your mom. I love you beyond words. ❤️

Class of 2026

Congratulations, Kory. I love you today, tomorrow, and always. 💜🎓

Kory’s journey has been filled with challenges, determination, courage, and accomplishments that few can truly understand. Looking back on everything we’ve been through together, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat just to see him standing here today.

Kory, watching you graduate tonight was one of the proudest moments of my life. You have worked so hard to get here, and I am honored to be your mom. No matter how busy, stressful, or chaotic life gets, my love for you never changes.

Three photos.

A kindergarten graduate.

A little boy on his last day of kindergarten.

A young man on his first day of 12th grade and last day of high school.

Somehow, in the blink of an eye, we went from one to the other.

There were challenges, triumphs, surgeries, therapies, laughter, tears, and more perseverance than I can put into words. Through it all, Kory never stopped moving forward.

Today was his last day of high school. Graduation is June 26, 2026.

I am proud beyond measure, grateful for every step of the journey, and just a little emotional looking back at how far he has come.

Fly high, kid. You’ve already taught us all what determination looks like. ❤️🎓

Kory (white shirt), appears at about 1.42 mins

Five years ago, I wasn’t sure what Kory’s path back to school would look like. Today, I watched him take part in Queensbury High School’s Senior Give Back Day and walk through the elementary school halls as a graduating senior.

It’s one of those moments that makes you stop and appreciate just how far he’s come. Graduation is right around the corner. 💙💛🎓
